Some of the jokes made me cringe rather than laugh even accepting the satirical nature of it all.

Hah, my story exactly! I loved this move as a kid and recently promised my family it would be a hoot. A lot of cringing, they lasted about 20 mins ...

Still can't beat the rousing theme song though.

Years ago I listened to the Mel Brooks directors commentary, and he said how sad it always makes him when he sees the sanitised version on broadcast TV because (according to him anyway) black people absolutely loved the movie in it's original form.

EDIT: Fun fact, Mel Brooks wanted Richard Prior to star as Sheriff Bart but the studio said no because of his well known cocaine habit at the time.

Dunkirk 7.5/10 lackluster on the story front but still gets its point across. Some pretty intense scenes that were really well done.
Tour De Pharmacy 6.5/10 I can give or take Andy Samberg at times but glad he didn't take over this. John Cena was quite a laugh and the scenes with Lance Armstrong were great.

Baby Driver 7.5/10 about what I expected, a little disjointed in places but some outstanding driving at the start of the movie.

Dunkirk immediately after. Wow. I feel drained. Some unbelievable heroism and bravery and courage displayed. A few opportunities there for Oscars potentially. 9/10.

Alien: Covenant - Plot full of holes with dumb characters doing dumb things. The more Ridley Scott tries to establish some sort of mythology, the less anything makes sense. 5/10

The Eyes of my Mother - Strange and somewhat disturbing psychological drama. Well made, but I personally just didn't particularly enjoy it. 3/10

The journey 8/10. Martin mcguness and Ian Paisley in a car learning about each other by talking for probably first time. A number of light hearted moments did have me wondering how accurate it was. But then it was bugged and streamed by mi5 to where Tony Blair and Irish president were. I think I'll dig out the more authority book.

Villarian and city of 1000 planets. Visually amazing, script very dodgy, actors too pretty. 5/10 Didn't deserve for me to be the only one in theatre though..

Shooter - This story has been told more times than I've had hot dinners and my wife has always HATED American action movies but she suggested it and I couldn't be bothered finding anything else. It was paint by numbers with the expected unbelievable scenarios. If you like that sort of thing, go for it, but you wont see anything which hasn't been done a million times before.

They movie is indeed average, but the 2016 10 part series on Netflix is actually quite good. Give that a go.

The Founder - 7/10

Watched this on Netflix during sessions of bottle-feeding our baby. It was pretty interesting and a well-told story. Michael Keaton as Ray Kroc, the guy who essentially stole the McDonald's concept and turned it into a franchise, does a great job of portraying a guy who is relentless in his desire to succeed. It's always debateable how much of these "based on a true story" films are "true" and how much is exaggerated for dramatic effect, but it's hard to walk away from this film not thinking that Kroc was an a-hole. Particularly this line (again, no idea if it was real or invented for the film): "If my competitor was drowning, I'd walk over there and stick a hose in his mouth."

Nevertheless, an interesting story well told.

I really enjoyed Atomic Blonde. Not just the fight scenes and the opposite-of-a-fight scene.

The music was great and it took me back to that time when the wall came down.

TBH I'd watch almost anything with CT in it.

I am the opposite, she annoys the heck out of me. Her and Larry David are my two least favourite actors of all time.

I still watch her movies because sometimes they have good plots, but LD I won't watch in anything.
