Apparently there are at least 2 more prequels in the pipeline.

Lizard1977:

Starship Troopers - 8.5/10 (again)

I've watched this film many times (and "reviewed" it at least once or twice here), but I have to say it's still a great film 20 years later.  I know lots of people trashed it (and still do), but there's a lot more going on than just a cheesy flick about space marines killing bugs.  Re-watching it in the Trump era made it feel all the more topical, watching a pseudo-fascist society playing out a white supremacist allegory was chilling.  I read an article recently that interviewed Paul Verhoeven about the making of the film, and he was asked about the rumours that he deliberately hired "bad" actors to accentuate the satire of the story, but he denied that and admitted that they were hired for their looks, to echo the Aryan look of the Nazi propaganda films of Leni Riefenstahl.  While the set design and effects are now laughably dated, I still love rewatching this film.

Because of this review I decided to watch it again. Watched it at release 20 years ago and again now. The nationalism vibe is very strong and wife mentioned "Is this a spoof? The acting is so bad"

Also watched Unleashed. Very light romantic comedy, not bad for a Sunday afternoon while ironing shirts - actually I only managed to do three shirts because I mostly watched it. Showed the trailer to our 11 year old thinking she might want to watch it - she said "Too silly!" 7/10.

The Handmaid's Tale (1990)  Wanted to compare it to the recent TV series of the same name.   Gave it a 6 out of 10 .   Quite good.  Will be interesting to see if  series 2 follows  the same track as the movie..

Aliens 6/10 IMO the weakest of the lot but still reasonably entertaining.

I guess this depends what you're looking for going into it. I've always been more of an action\sci-fi fan than straight horror so Aliens is one of my favourite films of all time. I was also fairly young when I first watched it, so just thought it was so frikkin' cool at the time and never really grew out of that ;-) And it's oh so quotable. It's very much an action\war\sci-fi movie where the rest are more horror films, but it and the first are the best of the series IMO, though I did also enjoy number 3 more that most people... haven't seen it in a while though so must re-watch.

Just shows how many shades of sci-fi there are even within the same franchise.

I mostly prefer the atmospheric type rather than the action type but, as with all movies, it's just personal preference. I've never really liked the Star Trek movies for example but millions have.

I agree, Aliens is definitely #2 in my book. The first was a horror film, the second an action film - both great examples of their genre, stitched cleverly together with the same story.

Their Finest (2016) 7½/10 - Just good old no brainer glass of wine and box of Maltesers British movie.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 (2017) 6½/10 - Not as good as the first, Kurt Russell still needs acting lessons, maybe some stage work would sharpen him up.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

^Crazy talk about Kurt Russell!  He's a full blown movie star, he added a heap of gravitas to that role.

John Wick Chapter 2. Bringing John Wick out of retirement a second time was always going to be tough for the sequel, but they have pulled it off. Glorious cinematography, superb soundtrack and an excessive body count, this was the role Keanu was born to play. Park your intelligence at the door, sit back and enjoy. Bring on chapter 3.

IT

For a remake they've done a fantastic job in recreating everything you loved to hate from the first IT movie...I can definitely see this creating a new generation of clown phobic people.

Mother.

Outstanding horror film. One of the most visceral experiences I have had at the cinema, I left feeling somewhat numb.
