But fair is fair. I guess this means I'm able to paint anyone who disregards the impact of climate reform on lower-income earners as just hating poor people.

Nobody here disregards the impact of climate reform on lower-income earners. They are pointing out that the impact of not initiating climate reforms on lower-income earners is going to be much faster and much worse than it will be for rich people.

The response to "What if people end up getting taxed to death" was "they should stop doing stuff that is harmful to future New Zealanders".

This was the doco I watched a few years back. It works through what the Earth will be like at 1C warming, 2C, up to 6C. The effects, and what we have to do to adapt. Fascinating. Look for the 1:36 version. Its a Natgeo 2008 doco

When parasites overwhelm the host they either kill the host or sicken it to the point where the parasites begin to die.  Clearly the host isnt reacting fast enough but give it time and hopefully the parasite colony will die.

Yep, not news, its already happened. The good news is that we are the most intelligent species by far, the bad news is we invented money and politics.

The ironic thing is if we were all communist (and if with that we could still innovate by virtue of desire than money) we could probably have avoided this calamity.

By avoided, as the calamity hasn't yet happened, but its already locked in.

It is so ironic. Capitalism breeds innovation. Communism breeds all of us collaborating. Not that Im not advocating communism, but it does in fact avoid the perils of capitalism/greed.

The other pity is that us individuals are not greedy but when you factor in politics, we are

They will, or they will adapt, to the detriment of most of their populous.  The rich will buy survival. The weak, but more numerous will fight back. Make a great TV series actually.

The Earth will shrink

https://www.stuff.co.nz/environment/112954162/mysterious-spike-of-ozonedestroying-chemical-traced-to-northeast-china

It starts by saying its China, the rest of it says over and over they aren't sure. But my main take was "This is a huge problem," a US State Department official said Wednesday. This is the other main polluter, from a country whose leadership does not believe in climate change. This official should be busy in the coal exploration and mining field
