gzt:

I'm surprised at the 'controversy' for a low volume high maintenance luxury car marque most people will never own.

They did manage to sell 400,000 cars last year. That is more volume than I was expecting.

Probably more than they were expecting.

I posted this photo in a new thread discussing Air NZ's new Dreamliner seats. But the picture is worth sharing here too.

The CEO can't even fit properly on those seats. Doesn't he have any shame?

He is probably thinking "Wow, I have never sat here before, look at all that empty space"

Foran seems to be unaware of how much AirNZ's loyal customer base dislike them now. If it wasn't for Airpoints I wouldn't touch AirNZ with a barge pole. Gone from being one of the best airlines with best hard and soft product to being one of the worst hard products. By the look of this photo things are not improving one iota for economy passengers.

I've send Foran an email politely pointing out the above. Not even the courtesy of a reply.

Air NZ's decision to follow the herd and equip their 787s with 9-abreast seats in economy (originally designed for 8-abreast, ANA still run them like that), and their 777s with 10-abreast (originally designed for 9-abreast) was an enthusiastic embrace of the general enshitification of back-of-the-aircraft travel.

As a result I won't ever travel economy on an Air NZ 787 or 777, the seats are just too narrow. Since I can't see myself ever splashing out for Premium Economy let alone Business, that means I'll travel long distance with another airline. Some Singapore Airlines flights are code-shared with Air NZ, so you can travel very comfortably on an SG A380 - the nicest aircraft for economy class travel.

Fortunately Air NZ fly A320's trans-Tasman, with economy class seating that's slightly wider and less uncomfortable, so I use them for my trips to Sydney.

I'm surprised there isn't more Antarctic tourism from NZ after all it's ONLY 25km from us according to this!

My nephew heads down there on Saturday for his 3rd trip. I'll let him know his 8 hour flight is actually quite short.

Quite long actually considering it's "only 25km". Must be expecting bad weather and many attempts at landing?🤣

This is what the first three days of 2025 look like.

Previous time before that was in 2020 and we all know how that turned out.

Are you kidding?  His executive bonus depends on him cramming in as many cattle as possible into the smallest space, he's probably thinking "cha-ching!" even as the photo is taken.

Interesting, she doesn't have a US accent. I am not sure she's an American.

I thought one of the job requirements was to look dodgy...

I could just imagine the reaction if you went up to a "dodgy" looking tow truck driver and asked for his ID.
