I watched both Kingsman: The Secret Service (Blu-Ray) and Kingsman: The Golden Circle (Cinema) this week. I had never seen the first one but decided to give it a go considering the second one was out and I knew my friends would want to go see it. Wow, I had no idea how good it would actually be, I knew it would be a Guy Ritchie-esque OTT action comedy and I knew because of that I would most likely enjoy it but it surpassed all my expectations, I absolutely loved every single bit of it and equally enjoyed the sequel. Maybe once I watch them both again they might lose some of the wow factor and I may shave a point but right now I give both these films a solid 9/10 (Watch if you like Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Kick-Ass, Bond Films)

Also decided to watch It straight after Kingsman 2 albeit without any friends as they were not keen. Apart from the fact that I forgot it was school holidays and the majority of movie goers were high school students who rambled throughout the whole movie I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this film as well. It certainly makes the original Tim Curry mini-series seem tame in comparison but certainly brings back the chills that I find have been noticeably absent from recent horror films. Certainly one of the better remakes out there 8/10 (Watch if you like Stranger Things, Stand By Me, It miniseries)

1. To decide if you appreciate the style and mood of the movie

2. Character back stories and references to Blade Runner original story line

3. Appreciation of certain scenes and sequences that reference the original

I'd agree with that. It's an immersive and complex world and I suspect you'd be a bit confused if you've never seen the first one. For anyone going to it I'd suggest picking a venue with a decent atmosphere and sound system. Its an amazing soundscape that they use in the movie - lots of call backs to the original score but that its no bad thing. I found it one of those very rare films, like the original, that will reward multiple viewings over many years. I had feared it would be a rubbish sequel, in fact I found it a complex, thought provoking extension of the original. Definitely not a mono-dimensional action flick. A lot of people just won't like it but I suspect others will still be arguing about how great it is in 10, 20 years time.

Flash Gordon (1980) , I fricken loved this movie when it came out and I got just as much of a kick and laugh out of it now.

The big sick.

A new generation of romcom I guess. So funny and sad at the same time. Felt great at the end.
Dinesh from silicon valley is the male lead and wrote the movie.
Highly recommended.

With respect, I disagree. To appreciate 2049, you have to see the first film (the director's cut, not the original theatrical version).

Bladerunner 2049. The original Bladerunner is on my top ten list and some films should not be messed with.

So, how did the sequel stack up?

Following on from Trainspotting T2, this is the second film this year that proves that sequels can stand against the original as an equal. An outstanding film. Could they improve it? Maybe shave 30 mins off the running time to tighten it up a bit.

Cult of Chucky (2017). The seventh film in the Child's Play series.

Cult of Chucky continues the story several years after the events of the sixth film, Curse of Chucky.

This film is a little bit weird, and as with Curse, is mostly set in a single location. Just like the sudden appeance of an amulet in Seed of Chucky, the voodoo magic on which Chucky relied in the first films is again altered to advance the story. I don't consider that to be much of spoiler, as the fact that something is up will be apparent in the first few minutes of the film.

Overlooking that however, this is a decent film, and worth watching if you're a Child's Play fan. There is less comedy in this one, but it's still good for a few laughs. Unlike horror fans who hated Bride/Seed, I prefer an element of humour in my movies. I like funny films, or those based firmly in reality, and what could be less realistic than a doll brought to life by voodoo magic?

There are numerous references to earlier Child's Play movies, so if you haven't seen those, don't start here, and make sure you've seen the post-credit scene in Curse of Chucky.

Blade Runner 2049 at IMAX - Visuals and music just blew me away. I think Deakins and Zimmer have produced their best work ever with this movie. I also enjoyed the slow pace and minimal action sequences which is a pleasant change from the all the no-plot mind numbing big action set pieces in blockbuster movies these days. Overall 9/10

I highly recommend watching this at a cinema with a big screen and a decent sound system.

The mostly true story of their relationship, written by Kumail Nanjiani and his wife, Emily Gordon.

I agree. In general, I am pretty tolerant towards films but only politeness towards my companion and other paying audiences prevented me from wanting to leave halfway through. The atmosphere, sound and cinematography were great. Sadly, the plot was convoluted and the pacing of the film was god awful (IMO it was at least an hour too long). Meh would also be my verdict.

^I love how films are so polarising. I just got in from Blade Runner 2049 at the Roxy. Boy oh boy did I like that!?! It was stunning! It was definitely long, but I never felt like it was too long or should have ended sooner. I loved the slow pacing, generally slow movies are my favourite (Once Upon a Time in America is one of my all timers!).

I do think it was too loud, though that could have been cinema specific. Other than that it was brilliant. I watched Blade Runner - The Final Cut this afternoon before I went and I'm so glad that I did, as I had all that stuff fresh in my mind while I was watching.

Loved it, recommend it!

I'm interested to hear you say that because I felt exactly that way about the first film. I came to appreciate the complexities as it aged. Later still I saw the directors cut which (while avoiding spoilers in this thread) is actually horrifying regarding the character of Deckard. A previous user referred to the 'Final cut' I haven't seen that one.

Blade Runner Final Cut bored me to death. Blade Runner is overrated to me.

I also think Star Wars is pretty damn stupid. Yeah, I went there. Star Trek is cr@p too.

Red Dwarf and The Fifth Element are good.

Enjoyed Spider-Man Homecoming this evening.
