Rogue Heroes - 7.5/10 - TVNZ OD

Pretty good fictionalised account of the beginning of the SAS in North Africa during WWII.

Poker Face - 6/10 - TVNZ OD

Lightweight entertainment with a quirky lead who solves murders because she can tell if someone is lying. Six episodes is enough.

Watched the last episode of For All Mankind on Apple TV+

Glad it got there in the end, but I think it's probably enough.

Also started watching The Timetraveller's Wife on Neon. It's ok so far.

Quantum Leap remake. So far pretty good. Found it quite hard to marry up the differences after being a fan of the original series, but they have some nice cameos and link ins and so far things are holding up pretty well.

Started on series two of Clarkson's farm, after enjoying season 1 last year. Nothing startlingly innovative and unique, but it is engaging and watchable. And does show how hard it is to make a living farming!

Happy Valley was an 8/10. Psycho Tommy is suddenly made to have grown up feelings which was apparently uncapable of in the first two series.

Started watching 1923 which I am inclined to give a perfect 10.  Taylor Sheridan is making so much money for Paramount, he can spend what he likes on production, and the first two episodes have cinematic views of Africa with the production values of a James Bond movie.  I do worry that 80 year old Harrison Ford is going to fall off his horse or go the wrong way. 😉

Agree with the 8/10. For me psycho Tommy is the weak point in this series and pretty poor as the baddy. Try Jamie Dornan as the serial killer in The Fall for really scary.

Sarah Lancashire in the lead is excellent though.

What was up with the last episode? The resolution of the second plotline was left totally to our imaginations. It's like they wrote for 7 episodes but had to cut it to 6 after they had filmed the first 5.

10/10 up to then.

Actually I have to disagree, I thought it proved once again that Catherine had an uncanny ability to uncover seemingly meaningless bits of evidence and realise the connection between them - and in this case, handed it over to someone else to follow-up on.

Anyway, came across this "Bad TV Impressions: Happy Valley Series 3" YouTube clip, by British Character Comedian Kieran Hodgson. It's very well done and had us laughing all the way through, particularly the impressions of Clare and Neil...

Been watching The Last of Us. Enjoying it more now I am getting used to the characters - knew nothing about it coming in.

Also started watching Severance. Weird. Slow. Creepy, compelling. I'll continue with it.

We are watching the same two. Really enjoying The Last of Us, brought the game after watching the first episode and they have done a fantastic job with telling the story. The game is very good as well. Severance is weird and the wife is a bit over it but also persisting with it as it is compelling.

The other one we are watching is 1923 which is very good.

Mayfair Witches enjoying so far. A bit slow going & I've never read the Anne Rice books but the modern world with a bit of old school sorcery.

The Company You Keep only 1 episode so far but I'm intrigued. Family criminal dating a CIA agent investigating a case linked to said criminal.

Finally got around to watching season 1 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. After completely giving up on Discovery after season 3 I wasn't expecting much. The first episode was pretty weak and one episode towards the end of the season was particularly bad, but to my surprise overall I didn't hate the season.

Star Trek: Picard season 3. Only one episode in, but so far much better than seasons 1 and 2 (season 1 being bad, and season 2 being possibly one of the worst things ever made by anyone ever). Still plenty of time for it to go south, but it almost felt like the Picard from TNG. Almost.

Agree, besides the nostalgia factor Picard S01/02 story development have been rather pointless.
