What worries me is that all this good intention ends up in an anarchic state, which is them suppressed by an oppressive state...

Yes, these folks have not attended their history classes.

freitasm: As thought, these guys have no idea what they are talking about: http://occupywallst.org/forum/proposed-list-of-ows-demands/

Right at the top of that page - "This content is user submitted and not an official statement".

It is just a post in the "public forum" area of OWS, not an OWS statement of any kind.

codyc1515: Communism

No. I very much doubt it.

Although it could easily be construed as an idealistic version of that.
But as Mauricio has said they haven't read their history,  as idealistic systems rely on tight controls and dictators.

But then overall I still think the whole Occupy thing is really a symptomatic movement, which history will place in context with some greater global change.

As above. A repressive/oppressive state is not always a communist state. There are lots of extreme right examples of this.

Very true. You can also argue that once you get to extreme right and extreme left there is very little difference between the two

Apart from how you spin the "truth" (the baseline ideology) everything turns into custard.

Several thousand people (present est 5k) marching in NY (4.48pm EST). Expected to get bigger closer to 5pm. This is the national day of protest etc called in response to the clearing of Zuccotti park.

They just reported a black block (some kind of anarchists maybe) attempted to create a barricade from trash skips (maybe in preparation for something) and were stopped from doing so by other occupy wall street people.

Exactly - but hey - why let history get in the way of ideology :)

It's quite probably circular.... too far left becomes too far right, and vice versa.

As you suggest....once things get too extreme the actual left-and-right of it become lost in mechanisms of the state, and individually you probably become more interested in survival

Stuff / The Age : Assault allegations will be investigated after Australian police stripped an Occupy Melbourne protester from her "tent dress" and left her in her underwear.

Now watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGBTes_VHAk , of what happened before they took the tent off the lady, it's convenient the most viewed video is an edited copy without immature behaviour of winding up the cops before hand. I'm surprised they held off for that long really, what did the protesters expect to happen?

Yeah, I'm not sure that helps a cause that 99% of us see as having no direction nor tangible outcome, the little interest I had in this movement as a vehicle for change has now completely disappeared.
