Eva888: That the Covid thread has moved off the GZ home page after around three years.

It'll be replaced by a Monkeypox thread soon enough. 😅

The kids leave very early for school (6:30am) so they had to eat and go to bed early. They have reached an age where they can stay up late enough and have developed their palates to a point where we all eat dinner together

It’s really a game changer for us as a family. We’re all loving it.

To have replaced the intended order of a pack of paper business cards with a single fancy DIY digital business card for cheap, whose data can also be adjusted at any time without needing a new one. Now the card moves from my wallet to the NFC or QR code reader of the business partner's smartphone and back in my wallet again. I don't even need to get my smartphone out.

Kids becoming independent has been massive for us as well. They make their own lunches, and can prep some of dinner prior to us getting home, and most importantly my oldest can be home alone for an hour or two. It's huge.

So the Wardens came for one of the Street (School) No Stopping Times last week. They only seem to enforce it once or twice a year usually!

The cars were back to normal the next day!

Guess what? They came back this morning!

More cars than time to write the tickets! 3 Wardens too!

Afternoons are normally worse!

As a resident, we are grateful whenever they come.

Father's Day ride at Woodhill Forest Bike Park with my two teenage boys.

Had a great day out there - rode a fair way. Had a blast on the new jump lines.

So much fun when the three of us get out there and everyone is in the mood!

Getting the first possum of the year in one of the traps. Downside was the PIR never reported it so it was a bit... ripe by the time I noticed.

That there was just enough varnish left in the tin that I could thin it down for the first deep-penetration coat without having to faff around with decanting a small portion into a separate container, and that it was exactly enough to cover the timber, I was squeezing the brush out to do the last few centimeters.

That’s one advantage to shooting them. 👍🏻

Problem is that I then need to creep around at 2am and seven degrees C with a crossbow and thermal imager. Having a device do it while I'm asleep is much nicer.

The PIR actually does a pretty good job of notifying me, I think the possum must have gone in during the heavy rain two days ago which masked the thermals because it looked like a drowned rat.

When you have some inside knowledge of a public facing system, then read others’ (often justified) gripes, speculations and (often wrong) assumptions (sometimes stated as facts) about its features, functions and integrations.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

smug report, noun.

A bug submitted by a user who thinks he knows a lot more about the system's design than he really does. Filled with irrelevant technical details and one or more suggestions (always wrong) about what he thinks is causing the problem and how we should fix it.

Some other fun ones here.

Apple's out-of-warranty replacement of my AirPods Pro, which had started crackling in one ear.

They are aware of the issue and are replacing these virtually without question. Took 3 days from dropping them into a store to receiving the new ones via the same store.
