New dating service? Could call it MileHigh.
That's so they can overbook and give the seat to the first passenger that shows up.

I wanted a new car battery for my UPS. Like everything else in this country, they have become far more expensive than they ought to be. I finally found something acceptable at Supercheap. But when I went in I could find no hint of the sale price stated on the web site. I checked very carefully, more than once. No indication at all. Nothing even close. One of the employees saw me searching and asked what I was looking for. I explained and he went off, looked up the item, wrote the stock number on his hand, searched the shelves, and finally found it. I got it for the price I wanted and nobody questioned that, but if I hadn't gone to the web site first I never would have known about it. All the listed prices in the shop were around $40 more. Surely this isn't correct?
Same deal as airlines listing different prices depending on device, how hard they've been looking, how far away the flight is etc.
Someone shopping online is probably shopping around and you need to give them the best price to get a sale.
Someone shopping in-store is probably in a hurry or emergency and you can fleece them. Going to another store might be an extra trip of at least a few minutes. Borders on bait-and-switch.
Some stores have mandatory or implied stand-downs on click-and-collect orders so that you can't order something online while in the shop and get it immediately for the online price.

It can happen when they start re-assigning seats after check-in; e.g. to seat people together or for disability reasons.
Then you can have someone who was in seat A but is now in seat B, and someone who is now in seat A. Chain this up a few times on a packed flight and add online check-in opening long before departure, and you have a mess.
Apps theoretically should update but you might need to refresh manually. Paper boarding passes just get stepped on and it's up to the crew to sort out.

I think overbooked just results in the last few passengers being unable to check in, or assigned a seat that's pending. They don't generally let the overbooked passengers onto the actual plane.

Did the web site list it as on sale or special or something? Could just be the High Command changing the prices but individual stores not having updated the in-store labels yet.
It was prominently advertised on-line as a sale that expires on 19 Jan (I think). It had been running for a week or so. Not a whisper about it in the shop. Although an employee asked me if I needed help, he didn't seem to actually know about the sale until he looked it up. I'm pretty sure there would have been no mention of it if I hadn't explicitly asked.

I know he’s buying Canada and Greenland, I didn’t realise he had put an offer in for NZ as well 😂.
On a more serious note. Shipping batteries is a specialist activity, but for that price I would expect it to be hand delivered by a person from the company. It would be cheaper to fly to China and pick it up yourself!

Good job, Coastal Solar!

"Pope Francis has taken the remarkable step of dissolving a Peruvian-based Catholic movement, the Sodalitium of Christian Life (SCV), after years of attempts at reform and a Vatican investigation."
Then later in the article: "In revealing the dissolution in a statement, the group lamented that news of Francis’s decision had been leaked by two members attending the assembly, who were “definitively expelled”."
Who cares if these two were "expelled"? The group doesn't exist anymore.
