And then for Ep9 they circled round and jumped the shark again.

Oh lord, I'm trying to watch it now. There were some really silly episodes in the TNG, but they never felt so badly out of place. The TNG universe, at least in the first couple of seasons, was goofy and campy, so it kind of made sense. Here though, this really feels like a piss take.

It took me two goes, I just couldn't get through it in one session.

TNG knew how to have fun with the characters, all SNW can do is make fun of the characters. It seems the writers don't understand the difference.

Handle9:
Handle9: I just finished season 1 of The Bear.
It’s about restaurant and family in Chicago. A great cast and incredibly inventive television. The episodes are mostly half hour which is nice.

Episode 7 is one of the most frenetic and well made episodes of TV I’ve ever seen. Truly an extraordinary technical episode to film an entire 18 minute episode in one take.

9/10

We finished season 2 the other day.

It’s one of the best seasons of TV I’ve seen in a long time. “Fishes” was incredible and disturbing while episodes like Honeydew and Forks were beautiful.

I think one of the things I like is there are no “baddies” or heroes, just a fascinating group of flawed and broken people.

Yes. You inspired me to (ahem) ‘find’ this. It took a while to get into it but persevered and it really grew on me - have been bingeing. S2 is great. After mostly 30-min episodes, that hour of ‘Fishes’ was pretty intense and harrowing as you say - and got better as it went on. Enjoyed Bob Odenkirk in there.

After that, the change of pace of ‘Forks’ (nice tie-in with the previous episode) was brilliant and I found it quite moving - Richie’s 40-something coming of age. Great to see another cameo - this time Olivia Coleman.

Still have three episodes until ‘opening’. Already a classic I think.

I can understand why. Started it the other day and finished the first season before I noticed I had binged it. It's really good.

Just finished Special Ops Lioness S1 and wow. What a series. I think I would have watched it back to back to back if I had the option.

Taylor Sheridan is prolific it seems and cant do much wrong. I enjoy them all from Mayor of Kingstown to Tulsa King.

ToPGuNZ:

The Bear, 10/10, Disney+

Wow, this is an amazing TV series. It is intense with some stress inducing episodes. It has a huge amount of swearing. It has huge emotions. It has great characters you just want to know more about and they delve into them really well. Some very impactful moments, like the Fishes episode, the never-ending ticker tape noise in the Review episode and Sydney’s Humour (just read she is a comedian which explains why she is so good). On top of all that an epic soundtrack, loved the variety of music.

Can I give this an 11/10? Just when you've lost faith in the entertainment industry a show like this comes along to remind that it is still possible to make great TV. Absolutely outstanding. Started watching it last night and already 6 episodes into it.

Sign of a truly great TV show when you’ve finished it - but still thinking about it days later.

There’s a new series of Top Boy on Netflix - similar to The Wire but set in the East End of London. Still excellent IMO.

It’s slightly confusing because NF refers to it as S3 - but on IMDB and Wikipedia it’s referred to as S5. There were two earlier series called Top Boy: Summerhouse that NF showed under that name, so they call this series TB S3. Regardless, the new series was released in full just a few days ago.

I just finished it. It was well made and very well acted but I didn’t find it that good.

I’ve got a different perspective than many as I live in the Middle East but a lot of the male middle eastern characters were cartoonish.

I was entertained I just couldn’t tell you much about what happened in any particular episode. Horses, courses etc.

I just learned Patrick Stewart, also known as, Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek was in "I Claudius"

It's a great TV series, from 1976. If you can remember watching it when it was first aired, you're old!

This Old TV Show Has Better Directing Than Anything Today

The cast list is a veritable who's who of British actors of the 70's.

I'm lucky enough to have a DVD copy.

The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart

Follows a young girl, Alice Hart, whose violent childhood casts a dark shadow over her adult life.

Pretty powerful imagery, especially the ending of episode 2.
