ripjack: Just got done watching "Hijack" (available on Apple)
Overall I I liked it and and I thought it was mostly well acted with good pacing.
Some parts of the story didn't add up for me though so I might need to rewatch at some point.
Wasn't just you, I wouldn't think rewatching it will help. They did a pretty awful job at closing some story lines.
Twas the blight before Xmas - Home Improvement episode.
The whole episode was set up around a fantastic joke that had our whole family in stitches.
It really was a great show, very wholesome.

We have just binged the final season of Starstruck on TVNZ +
Written by and starring ex-pat-Kiwi Rose Matafeo, you'll either love it or hate it. Wife and I loved it.
Also watched season two of Afterparty on Apple TV+
Quirky and fun whodunnit set at (you guessed it) an afterparty
Also currently watching the most recent season of Only Murders in the Building on Disney+
The chemistry between the three main characters is good, but it's not as good as it was in the first couple of seasons. Still an enjoyable watch once a week though
As I was away sick all of last week, I also watched a few other things:
Foundation on Apple TV+ - watched that to the end. Enjoyable, but would have preferred being able to see all episodes at once instead of weekly drops. It's too complicated and convoluted for pauses between episodes.
Invasion on Apple TV+ - still watching the latest season. Not as good as the first
See season 2 on Apple TV+ - slower than the first, but I am getting back into it slowly - 4 episodes in and still going
Educators on TVNZ+ - Kiwi comedy about teachers at a local school. 3 episodes in and it's quite funny. I know a few teachers so it's quite relatable.
Handsome Dan Has Spoken.

Handsome Dan does not currently have a side hustle as the mascot for Yale

Oh yeah - also watched Far North starring Temuera Morrison and Robyn Malcolm.
The unbelievable true story of the biggest drug bust in NZ's history.
Has to be seen to be believed. Even then, it's actually unbelievable!
It was on Three Now.

Watched Wilderness (Amazon Prime).
When we read the description we thought it would be one thing but it's different. Call it a crime thriller, or drama.
Still interesting ending so give it a 6.5/10 which seems to be also the current IMDB rating.

Foundation: The Official Podcast helped.

I find I need the weekly Foundation releases to give me enough time to join all the dots between episodes, and listen to that podcast just mentioned.
The Night Agent (Netflix) - 7/10
I'm a sucker for spy-type thrillers, so this caught my eye. It's about a guy who works for the FBI and White House in "Night Action", where he answers the phone if a night agent (some covert spy division) needs help. Normally it never rings, so he spends his nights reading reports and providing analysis. Then the phone rings, and he gets drawn into a big conspiracy.
It's hard to describe my opinion of this show. It's a bit like a kid at school who has a lot of potential, but does just enough to get by. It's not quite a "C's get degrees" situation, but neither does it really excel. None of the cast were major "knowns" (except for Robert Patrick in the first couple of episodes), so there is an element of this show being like an Aliexpress version of 24. And I guess that's part of the problem. There are so many shows about spies, agents, conspiracies, that this doesn't really offer anything new or interesting. Which brings me back to the reference to 24. That was an example of taking a fairly common plot, but applying a new device (the events take place in real-time), and using that to heighten the drama. Night Agent isn't a victim of it's own mediocrity; it was just about 20 years too late to the party. That's not to say it's bad, or that it failed, but more that it doesn't really add anything. It's just another show that passes through the Netflix streaming machine.

I thought much the same as you. It is as silly as 24 which I also watched because it was good fun and never managed to cause me to give up on it.
But I’m commenting here because some will be interested to know the female lead, Luciane Buchanan, is from Aotearoa.

Interesting bit of trivia, thanks. I had no idea Rose was from down this way.
