About 35 years ago I bought a relatively expensive, good set of 25 P&N twist drill bits - 1 > 13mm in 0.5mm increments. Over the years I have replaced a number of them (with P&N or Suttons ‘Evacut’, which are really the same thing) when they were lost or went blunt.

They came in a nice pressed-steel box with tiered drill racks. At the time I thought the steel was a bit clunky but looking at it today, the box is still as sound as bell. I’m sure a plastic box would be long since gone due to wear and tear.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

I have a green metric and blue inch set of those drills and the boxes are holding up very well. If I had a metal one I am sure that the knocks would have left it dented and chipped and now rusting. The blue set is looking a lot better tho, but I do try to use from it when I just need "A hole" to keep the ones of known sizes in better shape.

I ordered a Sub for my Sonos system from Noel Leeming Saturday afternoon. It needed to come from Auckland and it arrived this morning via Courier Post. Excellent service indeed.

Cleaning up my subscriptions. Changed some, downsized others and got rid of one or two.

As usual it was prompted by a price increase but was well worth doing.

Yup. I bought the same quality bits but in a plastic circular spiral case.

The larger bits smashed through the bottoms of their holders the first time it was put down heavily. But that's one for the annoying thread (why is crap so crappy these days?).

We are at the 'Daddy' and 'Mama' stage of toddler speech development.

It's probably all downhill from here but it's particularly sweet to hear it first thing in the morning when he wakes up.

Apple shipping. My MBP was handed to DHL in Sydney at 1705 yesterday. It cleared customs in Auckland at 0420 today.

The downside is that now it’s in the hands of the bumbling amateurs that are the NZ courier system and will apparently take until Tuesday to get to me!

The only courier I have issues with is Aramax and they are terrible and they haven't improved since the Fastway days.

Courier Post/DHL are awesome and I never have any issues. My post earlier is an example of that.

My two daughters (8 and 5) woke up early and got themselves ready for the day (instead of me having to nag them and cajole them to get out of bed and get dressed and have breakfast), made their own breakfast, and even made mine for me.  Such a nice surprise to start the day.  Will probably be years before it happens again lol

Wait until he's a teenager and addresses you either by your first name, or "Old Baldy".

Thankfully, he's an otherwise very nice kid, so I allow it. :D

my youngest son calls me Father, the middle son calls me Far (Danish for Dad) the oldest son calls me Dad and my daughter calls me Pappa, no idea why. All of them from time to time refer "Oh God Dad" 😀

I bought some Chanellock pliers  (more than one pair, how the hell do you pluralise a plural🤪?) and Belzer screwdrivers when I started at the NZPO back in 1984 ( I was a telegraph tech, we bought our own tools and got an allowance).  They don't get much use now but they're still as good as the day I bought them.

Xcelite screwdrivers - there is no mistaking the smell of the plastic they use for handles.
