lol Sausage Party is hilarious :) Different strokes...
Rikkitic:Last night I stumbled across a film on TV2 that made me wonder if the chief censor has had a stroke. It was on around 11 pm, supposedly after the kiddie hour, but not all that far out of reach for older kiddies or seniors waking up in their TV chair.
How to describe it? I guess a food orgy comes closest, except the food was having a no-holds-barred, anything-goes, stick-it-wherever-you-can sex orgy, straight, gay, bi, all together, complete with verbalisations that would even make Trump blush. No words were spared our tender ears, and there were plenty that would have had the voicers banned from sites like this one many times over. I literally could not believe what I was hearing.
And then the wiener jokes! Hard to avoid when the main character is a wiener, complete with the most bizarre masturbation scene any diseased mind has ever come up with. Naturally this masterpiece of culinary anthrometaphoramorphosism has the ejaculate of someone like Seth Rogen all over it.
I honestly don’t know what to make of this film. The animation was pretty good but the content was utterly depraved. I didn’t see all of it (thank goodness) but I did come in where a human character apparently acquired the ability to see the food as more than only food after shooting up with bath salts! How uplifting can you get?
Maybe the film was funny. Maybe it was even brilliant. Personally I doubt it, but some might see it that way. In any case, it left me with very mixed feelings. Positive, that our pokey little parochial backwater of a country has the balls to screen something like this on public television just after prime time, retching that it had to be such a vile exhibition of self-indulgent unbridled excess. I am against censorship of all kinds, but surely there is a middle ground here?
For those who must know, this sex and food smorgasbord was called ‘Sausage Party’. Yuk.
I must have had a very sheltered life. I found it tasteless, both literally and figuratively. Yet I have no problem with Southpark (most of it) or even Brickleberry, which I did find genuinely funny, as well as tasteless. There is no humour or cleverness to Sausage Party, just excess.
Plesse igmore amd axxept applogies in adbance fir anu typos

I thought the first half was OK.
I made the mistake of letting my teenage niece (was her choice) and nephew who were 14 and 16 watch it. Their family is deeply religious. I had no idea it was going to end like that! It wasn't too bad until the very end.
I hope my sister never finds out about it lol.
Not my finest moment in judgement calls there I have to admit.
Over the past few weeks -
Wonder (apple movie of the week, 99c rental)
About a kid with facial deformities who goes to school for the first time at middle school (intermediate I guess). Is a heartwarming / feel good movie about strength of character overcoming prejudice. Really enjoyable watch, some good light hearted humour in it too. Well worth a watch.
The Good Lie (HBO Now)
A group of Sudanese refugees adapting to life in the US. A little on the slow site, has moments of sadness, some good light humour and is another feel good movie (although the end is a bit meh). Wouldn't pay to watch it specifically but was worth a stream

I don't think I laughed or even chuckled once during the whole of Sausage Party. I kept thinking "It's got to get better" and then it was all over. Most unfunny thing I've ever seen (that was meant to be funny).

I thought it was pretty average, but I was in no way offended by it. In fact I thought the the orgy at the end was the funniest part, for the very reason that it was so ridiculous and "offensive".
Transformers: The Last Knight: Thoroughly nonsensical, but I think I enjoyed it more than any of the others (objectively they are all terrible). It had the virtue of being a little bit different to the others. I remember seeing the trailers and wondering how they got Anthony Hopkins involved, and was expecting him to just phone it in - but to my surprise he seems like he was actually having a lot of fun with his role. Him and the Cogman character added a good 2 points to my score. 5.5/10
Crazy Rich Asians
Interesting movie as someone who married into an Asian family I can relate, and my wife who is half Chinese, can relate too. Some of it was over the top stereotype which was distracting. It definately could have been a lot better, but still not bad. 6.5/10
Anyone else who saw it, who can explain the maajong scene, please pm me, I'd like to clarifying something I was puzzled by?
Answered on the forum but then deleted the response as it could be a small potential spoiler
I would rate the movie about 8/10

Life (2017) - 7/10
Watched this on my phone whilst travelling back from Wellington the other week. I remember seeing the trailer for it last year but missed out on seeing it at the cinema. It's a pretty standard horror/alien-in-space flick, but no less enjoyable for it's lack of originality. I thought it did a good job of maintaining suspense, even though you know how things are going to go. There's a little twist at the end which I thought was good, and made the overall film a little more satisfying.
Destination Wedding. I thought it was really good with some funny lines in there. Wife, not so much. I give it a 7.5/10
