gzt: No link. New Zealand does not have $200 dollar bills. False.

I can send you a $200 bill if you want one!

i really have to question where stuff finds its "experts".

Bee ‘robbing season’ strikes at popular Auckland café

" Bee swarms have been plaguing a popular café as part of “robbing season” - when honey is stored for winter.

20 bees flew in the door

Evans said they were told by experts it was likely a poorly maintained hive in the area.

Experts had told the store that it was “robbing season” for bees, where they start storing honey for the winter."

20 bees is not a swarm and they are not robbing (both would have thousands of bees). bees don't swarm in robbing season. robbing season is not when honey is stored for winter (its when they defend it). its not caused by poorly maintained hives.

its simply bees doing what bees do, they go find sugar. there is a hive with 1km or so and its found the shop. if you can't keep bees out, you won't keep flies out.

this is a story thats mostly about people talking crap.

Dingbatt: I hope the judge treats the dumping of the baby on the roadside as an aggravating factor.

This is not an aggravating factor it is the primary offense.

Except (as it stands) she has been charged with “Unlawfully getting into a motor vehicle”.

Police are seeking a named male suspect and the charges include unlawfully taking a child. A female alleged co-offender was already arrested and has appeared in court charged with unlawfully getting into a vehicle

Ah yes I see it also reported in the Herald this afternoon that the ‘person’ being sought has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault as well as abducting a child, unlawfully taking a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified and failing to stop.

Can we agree, they are (allegedly) scum?
And that the focus of the story is now them and what happened to the baby rather than the $200 bill the car’s owner faced, which I understand the tow company has refunded on welfare grounds.

Here comes the new news. They have some great people:

Stuff: The new Stuff-made 6pm news will begin on Saturday 6 July, the day after the final Newshub bulletin airs on Friday 5 July. It will broadcast for an hour Monday to Friday with a 30 minute programme on the weekend.

I will definitely give this a go. It's been a long time since I watched an hour of NZ tv news.

Labour's Barbara Edmonds warns of 'smoke in mirrors' in Government's Budget

Try "Smoke And Mirrors", or "Smoke 'n Mirrors"

Looks to be a Newshub headline mistake. Edmonds is quoted as saying "smoke and mirrors" in the Newshub article.

You're probably right. It is impossible to know which one was said without the audio.

How is it even overlooked? You have to have it on at take off and landing and they recommend you have it on when seated. Hardly overlooked.

Kiwi golfer hits first ever albatross to take lead in Belgium

I know nothing about golf. When I saw this RNZ headline I genuinely thought the golfer had actually hit an albatross! Geez, golf is even worse than cricket when it comes to incomprehensible made-up jargon.

And then there is hitting a Birdie, at least that’s smaller than an albatross.
