i'm getting sick and tired of those overhyped weather forecasts in the media.

metservice predicts light rain with heavy rain watch. media headlines "heavy rain warning!!". its becoming boy who cried wolf. ever since Gabrielle they are so overhyping anything that might be bad weather. hysteria at its finest.

Live: Heavy rain for Auckland, Coromandel, Northland, BOP, Tasman

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/thunderstorms-to-rattle-upper-north-island-auckland-as-heavy-rain-gales-hit-at-rush-hour/F2JRLIM5ZBF4PLZ25YXONV7FLY/

as a quick example. there was others but probably removed now the rain is over.

every time it rains its "heavy rain forecasted" even tho metservice did not issue a heavy rain warning, only a heavy rain watch. if you look at metservice rain prediction they had no prediction for heavy rain in auckland/northland.

the northland "heavy rain" was a mere 3.4mm/hr, auckland recording 5mm. far cry from heavy rain ie 50mm+.

They probably don't want to get caught out like many organisations did during Gabrielle e.g. ZB

I think these OTT forecasts go back a decade or so after some flooding that they completely missed.

There's so much BS flying around at these rallies a pair of full sized incontinence pants would be better.

In fairness, they were probably halfway through writing a headline blaming Cloudflare like usual when someone said "psst, it's CrowdStrike this time!"

NZ Herald/Reset/Ethical Living/How to dispose of expired batteries - Today

Kiwi Can Do on show, just amazing, I never knew:

"Some parts of the separated battery are processed in a rotary kiln to transform magnesium oxide content into zinc oxide."

This is a real scientific achievement--I bet the Kiwi boffins are now working on transforming base metal to gold!

I'm being a real pedant here, but given that the flight was still in Wellington where the delay occurred doesn't that make it a "Christchurch flight"
