Rented my first LightBox movie tonight and apart from the difficulties of renting, which you can read about here Difficulty Renting On LightBox
I enjoyed the movie.

Hunter Killer 7/10. (IMDb 6.6/10 [30,976]) Apart from being a bit predictable and a little bit cheesy it was an enjoyable 2 hour movie with a half bottle of red wine.

Escape room 6/10 , not to bad but reminded me so much of the older move the cube (loved that one), The end had a big over tone of Saw.

Avengers:Endgame
8/10
At 3 hours it was pretty long especially when you add 25 minutes of adverts and trailers prior.
The storyline was not what I expected, although I did call a couple of things, but with such a huge story was bound to guess something prior to it beginning. Plenty of nods to the last 10 years of the MCU.
Another big screen epic (best seen at the cinema) but will probably buy the Bluray when it’s released.

Avengers - Infinity War. 8/10

I watched it again last night prior to going to End game tomorrow at Imax 3D.

I enjoyed it a bit more the second time as I sort of knew what the plot was and was able to follow some of the more subtle things better.

Looking forward to endgame tomorrow.

@Dingbatt - what would you rate Infinity War in comparison?

From memory I gave Infinity War 8/10. Since this is part 2 of the same story, I put them on a par. There were times when the theatre audience cheered, laughed, gasped and sat in complete silence, just as there was for Infinity War. It will be hard to top this as an ensemble movie. There were a few of things I didn’t like but I won’t detail as it may spoil it for some people. It’s a good idea to rewatch Infinity War prior to seeing this, as there is no attempt to introduce characters or recap, although not essential.
I only bother getting special movies on Bluray and have already decided to get this one. May even go to the cinema again now that I know the storyline to try and pickup stuff I missed.

Edit: Just as I did for Infinity War, I have started a separate thread to discuss this movie and will contain spoilers. I have refrained from saying too much in the OP but it is not without spoilers, so you have been warned.

In The Heat Of The Night 8/10

The classic, matching Rod Steiger with Sidney Poitier to solve a murder in a deep south small town. Has aged extremely well and looks/feels newer than some 70's and 80's material I have watched lately.

Some great dialogue in it.

Avengers Endgame. 9.5/10

My second favourite superhero movie I think behind the first Avengers movie.

I didn't feel it was long at 3 hours which was surprising as usually, I find 3 hours is a little too long. I was blown away by the range of emotions I felt.

It was a stupendous end and fitting I thought largely, but I feel a hole now knowing there isn't more to come.

I am going to start a thread discussing it with a spoiler warning because I have some questions!

Holmes & Watson (2018)

What a terrible  excuse for a comedy. Gave it 2 stars ..   I can see why Netflix turned it down from Sony  after the test screenings in the US bombed.

Agreed, I was excited about the pairing of them again, step brothers is one of my faves.  But it was abysmal.

Avengers: Endgame - ns (no score)

There's not a lot to say about this film, which is why I didn't bother scoring it.  Perhaps more so than any other film, I can't imagine that any person would see this film "cold", without any kind of previous exposure to the films that have gone before, especially Infinity War.  On that basis, a score doesn't mean anything.  Those who have watched Infinity War are definitely going to see it (regardless of any reviews), and those who haven't seen Infinity War (or at least the key previous Marvel films) aren't going to be swayed by the reviews for Endgame.  It's the ultimate fan-service film.

That being said, I really enjoyed it.  I think they managed to tie up the threads from the previous films as completely as possible, and it was pretty satisfying.  There were deaths, and they felt emotionally impactful (which might be the least-emotional way of describing an emotion ever...).  A few people have noted that as the 22nd film in the Marvel saga, it kind of works like a season finale to a very long TV show.  Seen in that context, it feels quite complete.  And just like a TV series, there are good "episodes" and bad "episodes."

There were a few things about Endgame that I didn't like.  The way that Thor was treated, as has been discussed online elsewhere, grated with me.  While I accept that the movie is not a documentary, the portrayal of how a character copes with trauma and mental health issues seemed very flippant.  Especially when contrasted with how Tony Stark was portrayed over several films, beginning with Iron Man 3, and the PTSD after the Battle of New York.  There's no reason why they couldn't have approached this with Thor more appropriately, rather than playing it for dumb laughs.

Overall though, a fitting end to a very ambitious franchise.  I can't imagine many people would have expected this when Iron Man came out in 2008.

A few oldies.

Little Big Man 8/10

Dustin Hoffman in one of his best films moving between the Indian and White Man's world's with some very insightful dialogue (and some very funny lines).

Magic 7/10

Anthony Hopkins in an early role as a ventriloquist having a breakdown and suffering from schizophrenia. Quite creepy in places.

Easy Rider 5/10

Not aging very well and pretty boring. Jack Nicholson stands out though.
