Wife just back from Countdown and had a giggle in the egg section. No real eggs, so someone had put easter eggs on the shelves instead.😃

Seeing the Census person standing outside the Chinese Consulate and expecting them to answer the buzzer etc/ and supply Census details!
She eventually gave up!
Do they need to fill it in if "the soil" is regarded as Chinese Territory?

Well done, that man. It's only when the costs of cancelling flights exceed the costs of putting them on that airlines will work to avoid cancelling.
I couldn't decide if this belonged here or the Muppets on the road thread.
Auckland Transport. Sometime in the last 2-4 weeks they reduced the speed limit around Auckland Zoo to 30kmh^-1 permanently (previously 50kmh^-1, 40kmh^-1 at school time). This past weekend the Pacifica festival was on at the neighbouring Western Springs, and they had traffic management in place for the event. While that didn't amuse me, what did was the fact that they placed temporary 30kmh^-1 signs in what is now a permanent 30kmh^-1 stretch of road, and at the end of the traffic managed area, 50kmh^-1 signs. So, temporarily at least, with traffic management and cones all over the place, the speed limit was 20kmh^-1 higher than the permanent limit. How exactly is this new speed limit justified?

It's in response to the hundreds of children that are killed outside schools every year by speeding cars.
I think you need to read the post again. The limit has been temporarily increased by 20 km/h.

That's just the usual council fubar, I was responding to the more general case of lowering speed limits to 30 in order to be seen to be doing something. Typical short-term political thinking, presumably by the time people notice it's made no difference they'll have moved on to another position.
