Apollo 11 9/10

Great documentary that only uses original footage and audio to tell the story, no actors or narrator.

Special 26 (Special Chabbis (original title) on Netflix 8/10 and IMDb 8/10 well deserved.

Now I hardly ever watch Bollywood movies but this is well worth the exception. A complicated plot heist movie with a comedic bent and being Indian it has to have the love interest but not too gushy though. Well acted by excellent Indian actors.  And, yes, there are a couple (just a couple) of singing and dancing pieces. But there are also some very funny moments. Great Indian city location back drops. One very bad CGI scene. The full orchestra backing sound track just adds to the comedic bent. The only let down is that the Hindi speech is spoken so fast in some places that the subtitles go too fast for you to read.

A British production company could make an excellent equivalent using the same script - please not the yanks.

You will hear the salutation Jai Hind a lot in the movie and it means "Victory to India" or "Long live India". I had to look it up.

This is the second really good India entertainment product I have watched on Netflix. The previous was "Scared Games"  my review here.

Give it ago, I believe you will enjoy it.

About Time - Netflix - 7.5/10 -  At the age of 21, Tim discovers he can travel in time and change what happens and has happened in his own life. His decision to make his world a better place by getting a girlfriend turns out not to be as easy as you might think.

A really good feel good movie. Watch with a loved one, a good cognac and some decadent chocolate or all three. Great story line, good acting and a good soundtrack.

@MurrayM - where did you see this?  I'm keen to watch, but I haven't been able to track it down yet.

The Con Is On - 2/10

Watched on a plane back from the UK - the only reason I bothered.  Even then it was a waste of my time.  Given it a bonus point for having Tim Roth who I couldn't tell was acting drunk or really drunk just to get through making the movie!  Has a good cast who are absolutely wasted on this or are over acting the parts.  Maybe they were made/asked to for the roles...I'm not sure. Doesn't ever really get going either. Was listed as a comedy and whilst there are some funny parts not really enough to make it a comedy.

OK, not watched (past tense), but quite looking forward to Danny Boyle's Yesterday.

The Breaker Upperers 4/10

I can't believe the reviews for this were so good. Solid cast, decent enough acting but there were only 2-3 LOL moments and the rest of the time was pretty boring.

Cingey in some places and not intentionally I don't think.

John Wick 3 - 7.5/10

So many bodies. Enjoyed it a lot, but some of it a bit silly (even for a movie like this).

John Wick 3

Very fun.

Perhaps not quite as good as the first two and seemed to have some strange holes in the plot

SPOILER (POSSIBLE) SO DO NOT READ FURTHER IF YOU CARE

Why did he expend so much time and effort to get to see the Elder, swear fealty (ouch) and then....completely ignore all of that and do what he could have done by remaining in New York in the first place?! That whole section just seemed like a pointless white elephant in the story.

Always be my maybe 7/10

Light hearted , predictable rom com. I like randall park and gave it an extra point because Keanu Reeves role in it

John wick 3 - 7/10. Solid sequel but leaves you wanting more. The bad guys seem to put up more of a fight with some lengthy hand to hand set pieces. Went to the movies by myself as no one I know had sent jw2 so it wouldn't make sense. Saw another guy who was also a loner - did the nod of understanding.

The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicone Valley. 8-10

An HBO doco on Elizabeth Homes of Theranos game. My wife has read the book and reckons it stays pretty close to the facts.

How on earth did no one see the fraud in what she was doing?

Garbo, the Spy (Amazon Prime). Interesting story of this WWII spy who helped fool the Nazi German intelligence services into thinking D-Day was coming in Pas de Calais instead of Normandy (topic since day after tomorrow marks the 75th Anniversary of this event).

NETFLIX

Grim

6 seasons out of 7 are available in NZ.

100% recommended.

You may force yourself to watch first 4 episodes (40min each), as it may seem boring at start.
