Even though gas is going to be phased out of the energy equation, Vector are spending on upgrading customers to ‘smart meters’. Ours was installed at home today.

The fact that you can build almost an entire boat out of bog. There's a vague outline of fibreglass under there somewhere, but it appears to be mostly bog.

My neighbour said that it was a bit risky of them to park it out on the kerb where anyone could steal it. I said that it shouldn't be too hard to catch the thieves, just look for soaking-wet guys dragging themselves ashore with a collapsed half-submerged mess of bog in the water behind them.

The saying "If you're not on social media, you don't exist." It's true ... only from the point of view of the passing "imperial" marketing caravans. 🙂

After 9 hours of waiting in online ques (at one stage over 120,000 waiting), website not loading and payment not being accepted, I finally obtained tickets to the new Warner Bros. Harry Potter Studio Tour in Tokyo that has timed their opening perfectly with us being there shortly after. I have a feeling my youngest is going to be quite happy.

I was taking my mobility scooter for a spin today. As I passed a mum and young child the toddler said to her, “I want one of those it’s dope” It made my day.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Will your wife be Tim the Toolman Taylor-ing it?

I have an image of you on the Wellington Motorway on your scooter, with the front wheels off the ground in my head. That also made me smile.

My mobile, self-sufficient homelab, complete with a NAS and a Docker server built into a car‘s first-aid kit box. Meanwhile a (commissioned white) nightmare for corporate admins.

Spotted at Kaitoke Regional Park, exit from camping area into water catchment. Each is padlocked to the other, or intersecting two links in the chain - seven padlocks in total. As one of them was labelled "Wellington Electricity", I'm assuming each of these belongs to a separate authority who needs access into the catchment area. Quite why a single padlock won't suffice for everyone I'm not sure...

Someone came up with a better idea. Amazing.

Anyone else find that the chores you had as a kid are almost enjoyable when it’s for your own place? Chopping up some wood to make kindling was one such hate. When it’s your own fireplace to warm your own family? Different story. Mowing the lawns becomes “exercise”. At least in my head 🤣

You're not on Atlantis anymore, Duncan Idaho.
