MadEngineer: Anyone else find that the chores you had as a kid are almost enjoyable when it’s for your own place? Chopping up some wood to make kindling was one such hate. When it’s your own fireplace to warm your own family? Different story. Mowing the lawns becomes “exercise”. At least in my head 🤣

Yup. At least to a point.

Some chores, yes.  Always enjoyed mowing the lawns, even as a kid.  Still don't enjoy doing the dishes or cleaning the bathroom but I do them because I is a adult and I has to.

No. I still hate mowing lawns.

I enjoy mowing lawns and cleaning cars. I hate all other chores but do them as they need to be done.

Shooting an even par 72 and in doing so dropping to my lowest ever handicap (3.6). At the age of 48 and 35yrs after I first picked up a golf club I'm still improving!

I then met Steve Williams who was playing pennants at my home club. I've heard he can be a bit prickly at times but he was very sociable on Sunday.

Got out and raced my first Mountain Bike Race yesterday. Missed a sign and got lost for about an hour and still came in on the podium. 3rd place in the "legends" category. Pretty sure there were only 3 of us in the category, so it was a guaranteed podium. I'll take it.

Congrats.  :-)

Doesn't matter if only 3 turned up, you are still ahead of everyone who didn't even bother.  :-)

I participate in long distance trail running events. Its something that I only got into late in life. I've found my age group (over 45) is one of the most competitive age groups at any race that I take part in. I'm quite fit for my age and can still run a road half marathon in ~1:50hr but I often place in the bottom 25-30% of my age group at these races. The last race I participated in I finished in the top 50% of the age group below mine (35-45) but the bottom 30% of my own age group. It seems some old blokes just keep getting faster on the trails.

I did have 1 top 10 finish in my age group at one race. There were 13 of us that started and only 12 that finished. We all got the same medal at the end of the race just for getting out there and getting it done.

I feel as if there is an opportunity going begging - combining your new set of wheels and the lawn mower...

Proud Dad moment! 7/7 Exams my son sat in his first year of high school, resulted in excellence with 5 coming in at 100%

Lucky he gets his brains, looks, intelligence, and personality from his mother I say! :)

Letting my daughter borrow my phone to watch YouTube and randomly pausing it using my Apple Watch.
