He sure is dragging that once-revered institution through the mud. What a petty, petulant, tiny brained, vindictive, tantrum-throwing dickhead he is.

Microsoft again. I've managed to tidy up my Outlook inbox and have got it down to five or six messages!

I say "five or six" because there are five in there, but it says "Items: 6" in the status bar.

It can only get better. The only problem is that it will get much worse first.

Visual Studio 2026 was released today, and I immediately found a bug in it. It would be nice to report it.

  • "Report a Problem" doesn't work, returning a generic "Oops, we have lost the connection to Visual Studio" message immediately.
  • Okay, I thought, I'll put a comment on the VS 2026 release announcement telling them that it doesn't work. Except they've disabled comments.
  • In desperation I tried to put a comment on the associated "Announcing .Net 10" blog post, but the Sign In button just reloads the page and doesn't let you submit a comment.

Microsoft got rid of testers. They also make it hard to give feedback.

They don't give a toss.

You can view problems there but can't report them: it tells you to do it through "Report a Problem" in VS.

With that said, the bug has mysteriously fixed itself. It seems that it must be an intermittent issue.

That's why they turned all Microsoft product users into testers

🤣

I've gone back to 2022 now. I've had 2026 attempt to close itself about five times today: a couple of times it randomly popped up with "Do you want to save before closing?" but twice, when everything was already saved, it just quit without warning.

A bit like how car makers used to leave quality control to car buyers, before the Japanese arrived?

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. I just stumbled upon an "unboxing" video that started with the product already unboxed. I skimmed through it to see whether the box ever appeared (no), so it seems that it's just a review video.

Mesothelioma is a rare but aggressive cancer that almost always caused by inhaling or swallowing asbestos fibres.

Tremolite is an amphibole asbestos that is considered highly hazardous. It was not usually used intentionally in building materials but has sometimes appeared as a contaminant in mineral-based products.”

The stuff in Kmart's sand is generally worse, more hazardous.

If you have young children in school, you may consider looking on your school website to see if they mentioned Kmart Magic Sand recall. Or perhaps sending your principal an email with the story below.

'Stop using them immediately': Asbestos found in Kmart Magic Sand as recall expands: RNZ

The nationwide recall of coloured play sands has widened again, after testing found asbestos in multiple Kmart Magic Sand products, prompting warnings that parents, schools and early learning centres should "stop using them immediately".

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) said four products sold by Kmart New Zealand - including three Magic Sand colour sets and a sandcastle-building kit - tested positive for tremolite, a form of asbestos associated with higher cancer risks at low exposure levels.

The findings expand an already significant recall that began last week, when rainbow sand products used widely in schools and childcare centres were found to be contaminated.
