Weirdness around the holiday

This event was mentioned in the latest Have I Got News For You from the UK

Reminds me of a man in Africa being hunted by a drug gang, who simply took off his shirt, and laid in a shop front to look homeless. A large number of heavily armed men came screaming in, and even climbed the building he was hiding in front of, before all of them left.

The most effective disguise is insignificance. People see what they expect, not what is there.

Migrant on the run found hiding in nativity scene: The Telegraph

A migrant on the run from police tried to evade recapture by hiding in a Christmas nativity scene in Italy, apparently pretending to be a shepherd...

No kidding he got denied entry. Convicted drug dealers generally have problems travelling internationally.

Unless he got dropped on his head too many times iin his playing career you'd think he'd know that he'd never get into Australia. Maybe the special condition to his parole was to be an example of what happens to idiots.

People might still think a conviction is required for entry to Australia. That rule was removed a little while ago. 😬

Florida man wrongfully arrested over license plate frame amid confusion over new Florida law : NBC6

In Florida, drivers can have a license plate frame as long as the letters and numbers and the tag decal are visible. But the updated law has brought some confusion when it comes to enforcement.

One South Florida man spent the night in jail after he was pulled over and arrested by Davie Police for the license plate frame on his rental car.

Dawson posted a photo of his license plate on Instagram and said he was arrested because the first "S" in "Sunshine State" was covered by the frame.

Cheese dumped in Waikato landfill being resold, MPI says: Stuff

New Zealand Food Safety has warned consumers to remain alert in the Waikato town of Putāruru, after discovering the unauthorised sale of cheese that had previously been disposed of in the nearby landfill.

The cheese appears to be taken from the Putaruru Landfill before being reportedly discovered for sale in the Waikato town on Sunday. It was not refrigerated and is not safe to eat. It is possible sales of these affected cheeses occurred in other areas.

The affected cheeses are all Over The Moon brand

Did the company dispose of the cheese still with the branded wrapping?

Who is selling it - dairies, supermakets?

Who is providing this to the people selling it?

So many questions that seem to be ignore by Stuff.

Previously disposed of in the landfill sounds like an unproven claim to me. If it did reach the tip why wasn't it covered to stop all types of scavengers?

It was probably trucked to the landfill site or transfer station, one of the workers saw an opportunity for some climate-friendly waste diversion. That's how I can imagine it happened.

Putaruru appears to be a transfer station rather than a landfill. Waste is dropped into high sided skip bins that get trucked off to the Tokoroa landfill about 20km away. Commercial waste normally goes direct to Tokoroa.

Looks like there was nothing unsafe about the product when it was trucked to the landfill:

https://www.stuff.co.nz/nz-news/360918116/please-stop-hurting-our-reputation-cheesemakers-plea-after-unauthorised-sale-dumped-product

Some cosmetic issue. This product might have done better if offered to agencies with a good use for it.

Took the train as I normally do for sale days. Fast, cheap, stress free. Befuddles me why people still take the car in a city where we have a world class train system.
