Sorry, but I had to laugh out loud at the concept of leaving your brain at the door for THIS Star Wars movie as if the others were cerebral masterpieces well written and put together that accurately reflect the physics and realities of a war in space :)

You do have a valid point but I thought that this was worse than most. I actually had the same problem with The Force Awakens and found it less of an issue in TLJ. A movie that requires suspension of disbelief is fine and dandy. In TFA the death planet with an atmosphere that used suns to power the gun made me nope out big-time. At least in RoS they went at a hectic pace that screamed "don't think about, just look at the shiny".

I have fond memories of the original 3, but I was a lot younger then and it was more impressive what they did then too, though when I watch it now, I find it kind of painful. The second three were in my mind excruciating and confusing and had "lost their way", but the last 3 were quite a mixed bag.
I didn't re-watch any prior ones directly before this one, which I often do in a trilogy so I can recall the plot lines, but there was enough story linking through it, that I picked up on most of it and it was nice to see the "old" faces back again to finish off the series.
I am probably quite fortunate that I am able to discard things in movies quite easily if they don't make sense, but I really felt they did a better job of finishing Star Wars than I expected. It felt pretty "right" to me.
One thing I will say is that the strength of the characters in the first to third movies was strong enough to hold the entire franchise together for nearly 40 years. It was awesome to see them in the final movie, which I consider a real testament to the strength of their characters.
Please don't post any spoilers folks.
I saw Terminator Dark Fate last week - forgot to mention it.
I enjoyed it...it was like a reboot, with the original cast there for continuity.
The CGI has obviously improved beyond measure and the plot was familiar - they tied up some loose ends, but created a couple more, so it wasn't perfect.
Did I enjoy it? Yes. Yes I did.

Re: Rise of SkyWalker; my 20 year old daughter [who is a well trained nerd] saw it last night; her response to me afterwards was "don't bother". Also she found herself falling asleep at some point [boredom, apparently]; and despite her being an avowed and ardent fan of strong female characters in media, she really didn't have any emotional connection to any of the female roles.
On the other hand, the boyfriend apparently enjoyed it.
I'm not a fan of second hand feedback in this thread. I'd much rather read the opinions of folks who have seen films themselves, hence the title I created was What movie did YOU just watch....
Rise of Skywalker. IMAX in Auckland.
LOUD. And that includes the trailers or even "prologue" in the case of TENET.
A lot goes on. I think I enjoyed it but did come out a little dazed and exhausted.
This one I will watch again at some point unlike some of the other Star Wars films.

Fair comment; but just to make it clear: I have ZERO interest in seeing the film myself; the last one killed any last remaining interest I had in the film series; although I am enjoying The Mandalorian.
Also, given that I've not been a 20 year old for a VERY LONG time, I thought it would be interesting to pass their viewpoint along.

6 Underground
It's a Michael Bay film - need I say more?
Well yes - the film starts off with a long but action-filled car chase. It's not bad as far as car chases go. One thing I did notice though was the good guys caused a number of civilian casualties, including running one poor guy who was too slow. I can't think of any other car chase where the good guys have done this - usually it's the A-Team approach where everyone jumps out of the way just in time (except the bad guys).
1956 around the world in 80 days.
1080p, dolby digital stereo, amazon
this was released many years back in a 2 disc dvd edition but afaik has not been released in HD until now.
shot in 65mm todd-ao the transfer looks very good, 182m length with inclusion of prelude, intermission, entr'acte and exit music.
it's a good old fashioned family film in the hollywood roadshow bigger is better mode.
much more entertaining than the dull steve coogan version of a few years back.

Absolutely loved this. A-Team on steroids. An action packed riot full of fun. Nothing left to the imagination at all, and with a touch of Deadpool humor now and again just because. How they heck they managed to film some of these scenes without destroying half an ancient city I don't know. I understand not a lot of CGI was used which makes it even more amazing, and those parkour scenes were sweat inducing, also quite real I believe. Definitely on the 'watch again' list.
Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation
