terminator dark fate

what a stinker !

this is the terminator movie michael bay would make, it rehashes t1 and t2, is pretty to look at, has lots of action, cardboard characters, makes little sense

if it took cameron 27 years to come up with this drivel he should go back to deep sea diving.

proof that he's a hackmeister of the highest caliber.

3/10

Wow, whereas I thought it was easily one of the best of the franchise.

Lion - Good movie, some really amazing parts. Better at the start than the finish, some amazing acting by the young kid at the start 7/10

Ad Astra - Weird Movie with an unsatisfying ending, too much time spent on some parts and not enough on others. Brad Pitts acting was good. 7/10

Joker - Amazing acting, but terrible storyline/plot can't see what the fuss was about, 6/10

Angel has Fallen - Not too bad. Easy way to lose 90 minutes 7/10

Animals - like the movie version of Fleabag sort of. Interesting acting, reasonable movie - 6.5/10

Godzilla - King of the Monsters - Easy way to lose 90 minutes or so. Amazing action, scale was well done. Predictable plot 7/10

Driven - Started out better than it finished. Weak Ending. Interesting look into DeLorean - 6/10

I have about 6 other movies I watched on recent long haul flights... :) Just need to remember what they were.

Just watched this. It was ok but I lost interest quickly.

I think I'm over the super indestructible killing machine chasing the protagonists from location to location. You know they're not going to kill the terminator until the final showdown no matter how many times it gets blown up, melted, split, shot etc... Maybe that's why I enjoyed Salvation.

I do miss the tv series - it was getting really interesting with the revelation of another machine faction, possibly helping the good guys, and then they cancelled it :-(

I saw it on the big screen and thought, yeah it's ok but after the brilliant T2, why?

Or as someone else perfectly summed up, "it was the Terminator film they didn't need to make"

Aren't all the Terminator movies like this? You pretty much know what's going to happen right from the start (machine from the future will appear and hunt down someone and there will be lots of shootouts and fights and car chases until at the very end the future machine gets destroyed). That's exactly what I signed up for and it's what I expect from a Terminator movie. Terminator Dark Fate delivered on that so I give it an 8/10.

Watched The Commuter last night on FTA telly.

Fairly formulaic, but interesting premise set on a commuter train.

Some really unbelievable action scenes toward the end, but up to then, really quite good with a couple of twists in the plot.

Quite enjoyed it. 7/10

Doctor Sleep.

Supernatural thriller, sequel to the Shining.

Liked the movie, but it's 3 hours long and it was late so I nodded off a little.

The bad guys are essentially psychic vampires who feed on children which is a nice change from the touchy feely vampires with feelings we've been getting lately. (I enjoy some of those, but to me a vampire should be a soulless blood sucking monster with no conscience).

Good cast, good story, maybe a little long.

Bear in mind I'm not overly critical of movies and enjoy a lot of things other people don't.

Rather enjoyed terminator dark fate for example.

Henry V 8/10

Shakespeare's not everyone's cup of tea but this is a pretty accessible version and true to the original. Kenneth Branagh, at the height of his acting ability, puts in a terrific performance as the central character. No special effects, pretty sure there is no CGI, but with a cast of excellent actors who needs it.

His speech prior to the battle at Agincourt is particularly stirring. The first use of the famous phrase 'band of brothers'.

The Rise of Skywalker

I had incredibly low expectations and it easily came in below them. What were they thinking?

Just terrible.

Good Boys (Sky On Demand).

Typical Seth Rogan type of stuff...Puerile humour, lots of teenage guffaws and gratuitous swearing.

Took quite a while to get into it, but in the end actually quite enjoyed it.

5.5/10

Dark Waters

Mrs Floyd thought it was great, I thought it was pretty good 7/10.

If you're looking for car chases and explosions then give it a miss, but if you like a John Grisham-esque legal thriller or Erin Brokovich type story you should enjoy it.  Easy to keep up with the plot and it moves along nicely (no 'get on with the story' tedious periods).

Lawrence of Arabia.

With overture and an intermission although no-one appeared holding a tray of ice-creams during the break (or selling Albatross).

Really needed a big screen though.

LOA is great.

Even if you don't follow the story, the sumptuous Freddie Young cinematography and Maurice Jarre score is mesmerizing.

Meanwhile I watched the Netflix film Code-8.

Total crap - dumb story, poor acting by that block of wood Arrow guy (and his bro ?).

It didn't even look or sound good.

On a bit of a blumhouse kick at the moment

If you like one, generally you'll like them all. They are kinda dumb, some gory bits, plot holes so big you could drive a truck through them but actually pretty fun

They are the guys that did get out and us with jordan peele, and the new halloween movie

Truth or dare - worst of the lot, but still fun

Hide & Seek - best of the lot I think

Fantasy Island - has luis from ant man (in a completely different role, but still)

Belko experiment - written by james gunn - almost the best
