Netflix: Brassic. 11/10.
Soooo good, so funny...
I have been watching the Robodebt scandal series on SBS. This was a product of the previous Australian administration and it is truly shocking. Some of those involved in it are being investigated for possible prosecution. What strikes me about the whole affair is the degree of arrogance and indifference of those officials (with some very courageous exceptions) who perpetrated this disaster that actually drove some of the victims to suicide. My takeaway from this is that individual citizens are virtually helpless when a rogue government decides to target them. We are all completely dependent on the good will of whoever happens to be in charge. The power imbalance is overwhelming. It is now happening in America and the lunatics like Robert Kennedy Jr. really are running the asylum. We badly need to improve the quality of our politicians. Most may not actually be evil but it is all too easy for mediocre people to shrug when evil comes their way.

@chimera I am interested in this. We have access to Netflix NZ and US. I can’t see it on either of those.
Weird, showing on Netflix NZ

I'm rewatching the Newsroom.
It's still incredibly pompous and quite dumb but I do love a good dose of Sorkining.

Thanks - yes my mistake - I found it and deleted my post. I thought my iPad was on automatic DNS (which would give Netflix NZ) but it was on manual DNS which is set to US.
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
Currently wifey is into Shameless. So have started from the beginning S1 only 11 to go.... It is good though. On Netflix NZ. I think it will take 6 months to a year to get through all of it.

The US version
Watching the latest episode of Slow Horses on ATV+
Had to stop and type this to try and settle my uncontrollable giggling fit after Jackson Lamb did a very Jackson Lamb thing in his office, while everyone was in attendance.
It hit a juvenile funny bone and I couldn't concentrate on the show, eat and giggle at the same time.
I do love Oldman's depiction of Jackson Lamb. He's so gross and cantankerous.

Ditto - I'm glad senso vision isn't a thing.
I am concerned though that with each season the characters are turning into caricatures of themselves ie their quirks are amplified to such an extent that they lose any semblance to actual people and detract from the great story telling and tension in each episode.esp Roddy Ho who this season is very annoying.
This happened with Suits. I reckon the later seasons dropped off in quality big time.

I really like Slow Horses. But one thng annoys me the most. Time and time again the naysayers in the Slough House are proven wrong. When one of them sounds an alarm, why can't the others go "Ok, that makes more sense than the stupid thing I was thinking."
On the other hand, there's a reason Jackson Lamb is the boss. He chose to be there, he was not sent there. And he's obviously a lot smarter than everyone put together.

Final episode of Peacemaker season 2.
A bit underwhelming throughout, with some good plot points and a bit of action here and there.
I've read that there might not be a season 3, as they are going to incorporate the characters into the wider (expanded) DC universe.

100% agree with the finale. Felt flat and meh. I was excited it was longer than the other episodes but two full songs and a scene with Adebayo which should have been in an earlier episode. Also Flag seemed to have been taken over by someone else.
Overall I thought season 2 was better than season 1 - the opening really grew on me to the point that I prefer it over S1. More character development and some good new characters (Fleury is brilliant). Did seem to sideline Vigilante a little during the season and the scenes he was in he seemed to be OTT.
The mural joke got me good and I wish they spent more time there.
Couple of returns this week:
Loot on Apple TV+ started where it left off and was thoroughly entertaining on a completely superficial level.
Also returning, but only for one episode (a Halloween special) was The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin
Not as funny, but just as off-beat as the series it is from, this one is simply presented as Series 1, Episode 7. Months after the final episode of Series 1.
I wonder if this was meant to be Ep.1 of Season 2, but as has been documented, Noel Fielding reportedly walked off set part way through filming season 2. Later reports have it that the show was cancelled before it was finished filming.
