Bendon Shop voucher for lingerie always goes down well.

Bee:
CB_24:
Asrafrate: What are her interests? Something to help her with those maybe?

Or something totally pamperific (that you get to enjoy too!) :)

Her main interest lately is raising two young kids at home.
Reading is an interest thats why I thought the Kindle idea would have been perfect.

A digital camera is perfect then - to take lots of pics of the kids!

Perhaps merge your and Bee's suggestions and get a tablet of some sort. It can be used as an ebook reader and can also be used to take photo's/video's of the kids (and other stuff too) as well as having truckloads of other useful functions.

I second Bee's suggestion on the digital camera. She can use it on the kids, and if you get her hooked right, it'll also help her expand and look at other photographical subjects (or get her into digital scrapbooking cause photography, kids and digital scrapbooking go well together.)

I still think something to take her away from the every day would be good. Hire a babysitter for the weekend and take her away somewhere :)

Great ideas but this is where my problem is, we have all the normal' things like good digital cameras, ipad, etc etc. I normally do beauty vouchers etc as a backup option when I can't think of anything else and she still has one she hasnt been able to use yet.
I like the scrapbooking thing though, she's into creating pages for the kids.
Going away at the moment isn't really as option as one of our kids is still dependent on her.

Thanks for the ideas!

Going back to the OP - the Kindle is still a great idea. Even the most hardened "I like the feel of a physical hard-copy book in my hand" people are won over by the simplicity and the light weight of a Kindle, which 'just works'. Also brillaint when travelling compared to lugging two or three paperbacks.

Kindle would get my vote. Try and get the older keyboard model and a leather cover with the light built in. Epic Win!

I would vote against buying tech for a wife's birthday, no matter how useful or cool you think it would be.
Jewellery is usually appriciated, perhaps look at Boh Runga's range. A popular book (with an exchange voucher). Flowers and/or chocolates (and a card!) always go well with whatever you give.

I have bookmarked this thread. Only 5 months to find something...*sigh*.

Normally I'd agree - but I'm two for two on tech pressies for the Mrs lately - the Kindle I got her for xmas has barely left her grip since: in 2011 she read maybe 8 or 10 books, since xmas she's read 38. Then the Nokia Lumia I got her a month or so back has become her other new best friend; she used to moan about me fiddling with my smartphone all the time, now she has a smartphone I haven't had a peep out of her, it'd be the pot calling the kettle black!

I tend to just ask my wife what type of things she would like, she is pretty hard to buy for as she is not in the least bit materialistic preferring things like time (Which I never have enough of), picnics (Which I hate), and outdoors time (which I prefer to avoid). :)

Speaking of which, I accidentally flew my RC Helicopter into my wife the other day, she was less than impressed, but I smiled and she forgave me. Match made in heaven I tells ya!

My son who is three, and normally very outgoing and who I thought would really enjoy the copter, promptly burst into tears as soon as the blades started going! (Different incident).
