I used to be a member of a film society, loved going to the cinema and went often. Glare from phone screens and people talking through the movies killed the experience for me. It's been a couple of years now since I last went and I won't be back. 

When the movie industry says the Internet is killing movies they are right. The Internet age has brainwashed people into thinking they must be sharing/talking/messaging every waking minute. I sometimes wonder if some of the teens are ever quiet when not asleep. 

However, while the lack of consideration in movie theatres is annoying, it may also be that in this changing world its us that have unreal expectations. If the talking, texting, updating, device-glaring folk enjoy a movie more because of their antics and if they are the ones more frequently going to movies then the rest of us just need to adapt, or do what I do and stay away. 

In that same vein- imagine the reaction of today's youth to an usherette shining a torch at them and telling them to shut up! Earlier generations respected authority and would have taken a threat of being thrown out seriously. These days they are more likely to tell the staff that they, as customers, have a contract with the cinema that does not contain an agreed code of conduct.
