reven: Man of Steel was that great IMO, maybe 7 out of 10. So I'm worried that the director wont be able to pull off such a huge movie with both superman and batman and people think its impossible and just write off these two appearing on screen again.
Hobchild: When Michael Keaton was cast in Burton's Batman there was a very similar uproar but IMO he has been the best live-action Batman to date. Also Zack Snyder is the best choice for this kind of movie as he already directed Watchmen which featured a very similar character to Batman (Night Owl) and an almost Godlike superhero like Superman (Dr Manhattan) and he made it work. I have a lot of faith in Zack Snyder, so far every single thing he has directed I have enjoyed so as far as I'm concerned he can cast Sean Connery as the next Batman and it will still be a great film... maybe.

crackrdbycracku: OK, there are people who have said this but really did anything matter in the first Batman film past Tim Burton's vision for Gotham City or Jack Nicholson's Joker? Not really. He was in the second one, Batman Returns. Does anybody remember that? No, because it was confused rubbish and Keaton didn't make any difference. Keaton got lucky and and was one of the things that didn't go very wrong with that film.
crackrdbycracku: Yeah, I liked Watchmen too. But A) Alan Moore is a genius so the source material was good and; B) I think we have both read the book and you, like me, loved seeing a work we loved on the big screen. People who haven't read the book mostly went: "Ahh? What the hell was that?".
crackrdbycracku: We might get lucky but I would say the odds are against it. I think he has gotten lucky, Watchmen, and not so lucky 300 which was entertaining but ... Yeah, the less said about the capes and loincloths the better.
Personally, I think pulling off a Superman / Batman crossover is extremely hard and the probable studio edict to 'make it like The Avengers because that made a lot of money, but make more money' isn't a good start.
Having said all that Bryan Cranston as Lex Luthor is a really interesting choice and the most positive thing I have seen so far.
