Firefly was a pretty cool TV series, short and sweet, not drawn out like so many american series get..

Some say it was cancelled too early, but I think it ran it's course and is a standing achievement.

i watched Star Wars and then Bladerunner when they came out. I like them both, but Bladerunner stayed with me - I still have the "Tears in rain" soliloquy bookmarked in my browser.

Too bad Claudia Black cancelled. Seeing her with Bowder and Edgeley together would have been great.

We started to go watch Farscape with our 10 year old daughter and after that we can keep her busy with our scifi collection of all ToS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, Babylon 5, SG-1, SG Atlantis, Firefly and S.A.A.B episodes.
Galactica is too violent and Lexx too weird & sexists for her for several years though :)

Few years back she wore Leia costume at Hamilton expo so going to AKL expo would be a real treat for her.  Wife is huge Star Trek fan and has pretty nice ToS costume.

PS. We got Caprica box with Galactica but won't let her to watch it EVER.
Being kicked to nuts is slightly less discomforting than trying to watch Caprica.

The classics:
Star Wars
Battlestar
Stargate
Firefly

I want to take my 8 year old nephew, and get him immersed in the (sub)culture.
So far he's into Clone Wars and Ben 10.
He definitely needs some more coaching.

I remember going to the first Armageddon at the Aotea Centre. It only cost $4 to get in!
The highlight for me was meeting Claudia Christian.
Babylon 5 is still my favourite sci-fi show.

Can't beat the Avengers or Spidey, all of which I used to get delivered with my Dad's papers in the UK as a kid in the 70's. I also loved the Commando comics in which I could thrash the Hun regularly.

Wish my mother had not thrown them away!! My younger brother and I had a pretty complete set of Star Wars figures way back in 77 when it came out - we traded them at boarding school like tobacco in a prison!

As for dressing up? I am 45. When I became a man I put away childish things - to borrow from Kipling - but not childish books!

Would love to go this year! :) Looks like TV\Movies are pretty well covered in the thread so here is a picture of my collection of my favourite comic series (and one of my favourite authors) I have the first 70 odd in the collection, including a couple of the first and second issues.

Bigger image since GZ automatically resizes it way down.

(Yeah, Sandman by Neil Gaiman)
