Geektastic: Are they still going with the 'one hour whole story' format?

I much preferred the '12 episodes one story format' of old - and the plot device that the Doctor could not control where the Tardis materialised, which seems to have been dropped a while ago.

The TARDIS always takes him where he needs to go. Not necessarily where he wants too...... (What a boring Whovian I am....)

It'd be neat if they changed it up a bit like that. Lots of Pertwee's episodes were set on earth because the Timelords disabled the Tardis (but I hear that was done for production reasons.)

But I have seen episodes of the more recent versions in which the Doctor has been able to specifically enter times/places and go there.

In the original Pertwee/Baker type era, he could not do that.

Yes - the monsters often visited earth. My favourites being the Sea Monsters, the big robot, the Cybermen and of course the sofa-hiding specials, the Daleks.

I also liked the Pertwee episodes with the Brigadier and Unit.

I think it's time for a fur bikini clad female sidekick again too!

I have to say that get_iplayer is a brilliant script / tool on Linux boxes.

well that was a dumb episode....

wont go into any details due to spoilers, but yeah i wasnt impressed. IMO matt smith had the best introduction episode. Tennant was asleep for most of his episode, but when he woke up he was brilliant (my favourite doctor).

Yes, I rewatched it on iPlayer last night via UnblockUS. But the iPlayer stream doesn't appear to be HD.
