KiwiNZ: Yep

SaltyNZ:shk292: As KiwiNZ notes, there is actually a good feel to the country at the moment. But if you're a political party looking down the barrel of a third term in opposition, you don't accentuate the positive
Speak for yourself; I'm looking out the window at the moment and there's a huge ball of fire in the sky that looks like it's moving, if I watch closely enough. Does anyone know what it is? I'm so very frightened... Perhaps today is a good day to die.

Sideface:I'm in the US now [though btw my mother is an Australian living in NZ :)]. So the news that I get from NZ is what I'm able to seek out. I still have a bias towards RNZ as my news source.k1wi: [For background I've been out of the country for 5 months now.]

riahon: I was walking around in a food court yesterday deciding on what lunch to buy; Chinese, Italian, Indian, Japanese, Malaysian, Thai, American (yip McDonalds) and reading this thread realised, there were no cops walking around carrying guns. Can you say that where you are? That does depend on where in the US you are. Personally, I've rarely seen armed police patrolling malls, as they largely leave that to mall security (pretend/wannabe police).

Uhm, you are most welcome to come to Hawke's Bay. It seems like we see that huge ball of fire a lot more than you are used to were you are at.

Remins me of ABC News in Australia when the All Blacks would win a rugby match and the sports news would try everything humanly possible to avoid mentioning anything to do with rugby - heck, I remember one night they started talking about the international ping-pong championship and ultimate frisbee being considered a real sport before mention anything to do with the rugby match from the prior night. Politics is even more funny, I was over there when there were discussions regarding the indemnity crisis with doctors etc. and what the doctors association proposed mentioned ACC as a 'great model' but politicians couldn't bring themselves to admitting "maybe the kiwi's got it right". It is funny to see though.
Wow n awesum !!
