dacraka: Maybe Geekzone should have a special one day where everyone gets to trial the ad-free version to see what it's like, people might love it so much that they actually subscribe because they get a taste of how good and fast it could be : )

That actually happened a few years ago. I was shocked at how much faster it was, and promptly subscribed :)

sdavisnz: Last month I became a paid subscriber of geekzone. While I have been a free user for a couple of years I decided it was time to support the website financially.   Being a subscriber gives you a few benefits:

Thanks for starting the thread. I only say it now because... Well, reason. Not really, Christmas celebration with extended family took me away from my laptop.

loceff13: I just make my Amazon purchases via the GZ referral :)

Thanks!

linw: Yep, we all like free but I definitely get much more than $25 value from my very frequent visits to GZ.

While we are about warm fuzzies and Christmas spirit, I would again thank all the real experts and other helpful souls who give freely of their time to help solve our problems. This also includes the company reps who jump in to directly sort out problems.  And let's not forget MF!

Wow, just about brought a tear to my eye!!!

So, to everyone here, have a good Christmas/Holiday season.

Lindsay.

True, true. Wouldn't be Geekzone without the help I have from the moderators (who do it for free!) and the industry participants - who mostly do it on their own, but with the approval from their employers, so thanks to the companies too. And obviously with the participation from you all folks.

Yes, we had a week of non-ads Geekzone. You can really see how much faster it is when no ad scripts load. Unfortunately it's a reality that we have to pay the bills, so we need them. On the brighter side I don't run crappy ad networks with those "Enter to win an iPad" ads you see in some New Zealand big name sites. And if I see an ad I don't personally like or approve, it's blocked. So you have me as your Ad Filter.

Thank you folks, everyone have a great end of the year break!

Proudly paid my subscription.

Thanks for the reminder, and I don't mind if the ads are still there.

They are usually pretty relevent.
