hio77: its about 5 mins when you dont have big red flashy sirens though!

ill admit, i avoid driving through that area like the plague :P

That route is my daily commute. :(

I'll be finding another way home tonight I think.  It was quite entertaining looking at all the Facebook comments on this.  So much brain rot going on around the place!

freitasm: From One News: Smoke billows from Auckland mall after "explosion".

"There are reports of an explosion at a mall in the Auckland suburb of Henderson. The blast happened at Westfield West City a short time ago."

Yeah I was confused by the 15-20 min thing as well. I couldn't remember if there was a station in Henderson (a search reminds me there is) but even coming from Te Atatu shouldn't have taken that long. I was wondering if the 15-20 mins was the person poor at guessing time/exaggeration, but this made more sense when I was thinking it may have to come from Te Atatu, not so much now I remember they were only coming from Railside Avenue, it's a bit diff so either no one thought to call or it's a real poor guess or they were really delayed for some reason. (Or the "witness" is taking the mickey.)

Funny thing about Herald reporting widespread panic is in other stories, they mention how "Photos posted to social media showed crowds standing just metres away from orange flames and thick smoke as fire crews surrounded the area"....

I live not too far from this mall, traffic has resumed to normal and the road has been reopened so shouldn't expect any delays except for the usual peak hour/after school
