From One News: Smoke billows from Auckland mall after "explosion".

"There are reports of an explosion at a mall in the Auckland suburb of Henderson. The blast happened at Westfield West City a short time ago."

Of course they will, at least up until the fire investigators have gone in and confirmed it was a leaky gas bottle or something equally mundane.

Alright: it was a tradesman's van, and there was a leaking gas bottle (most likely, acetylene for a welder) in it.
