Yep I would, and have... ok not the food grant thing but telling someone they are about to be locked up is the same. The trick to it is treating people like they are human and using your innate skills analyzing human behavior to keep yourself safe. If you can't do either of those things then find another job.

So I guess you think A&E Doctors and Nurses need to find new jobs then as well.

Only if they are stupid enough not to realize when there could be trouble and arrange for their own safety. If you think something is going to go sideways, it is. Either diffuse it, get out, get help or hit first.

And if  an A&E health professional can't treat someone like they are human and can't "read people" then yes they should quit medicine

having said that I once kicked a gang members hospital bed over when he abused a nurse...apparently that hurts when you have a broken leg ... Good

While in theory your idea sounds good however in practice its success rate is limited. Leaving is not always option, fighting is seldom an option, talking can work but not as often as on would like.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I would say in almost all cases it works, after all most WINZ workers have not been assaulted,

Are you aware of how you're coming across?  For someone preaching awareness you appear to have precious little self awareness.

With respect that is silly. Most incidents are not reported to the press etc as staff do not wish it.

What? are you saying most WINZ workers have been assaulted? If so then worksafe will hang them out to dry! But back in the real world most WINZ workers have not been assaulted.
