Geektastic: Don't murder your partner - go in the monthly draw to win a new dishwasher!

That's seriously messed up.  After you've murdered your partner, that's when you really need a new dishwasher.

Oh dear god I hope my wife does not read that the string of expletives and colourful metaphors will be audible throughout our peaceful neighbourhood  tongue-out

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I now realise what Geektasttic meant by the word "new" in his post. I remain innocent as I was also corrupted by Andrews post.

I have no idea what the acronym is, probably shouldn't know.

Not sure it is entirely fit for a family publication...!

Besides these days it is probably the equivalent of having knowledge of witchcraft - with the same sort of result.

ubergeeknz: they should renew it automatically and send a bill IMO, like most other kinds of tax.  It's daft the way it's done now IMO.

I just wait for the police officer to pull me over, and say "Tena kotu katoa officer, i'll have it sorted within a week"

Pretty sure you want to stick to "Tēnā koe" if you want to seem authentic.

I'd have thought that was more likely to get your car examined with a fine tooth comb...

To be honest - with the reminder notice, I don't even care about the wording. What I do care about though is why can't they email me the reminder?
I like the fact I don't get tons of snail mail and barely have to check my mailbox (even less so soon with the change to NZPost hours).

I pay for my rego online... send the registration in the mail, fine, but not the reminder notice. Save the A4, cost of postage and envelope- let us choose.

To be honest, why should they even send a reminder at all? Right there on your windscreen every day it reminds you when it expires....

I didn't say they should- it is nice though. I don't drive my car that often- I'm talking frequency of; it's not unusual for me not to even see my car for 3 weeks at a time. So it quite easily slips the mind, when it's not a constant thought or reminder.

Still. Give me an online option. I can get bank statements and almost all other bills online (except for the stupid water and power company we have to use for the apartment, who are stuck in the stone age), surely we could add this.

I was just talking to a customer today about this.
NZ Transport should have a function where you can just load in a visa debit card.
Every 6 months you get charged your vehicle registration
And when you get a warrant, it automatically charges the RUCs when your mechanic registers your odometer update.
And when you drive through the northern gateway, it automatically charges it.

Would be so much simpler for those that can afford and dont want to think about it.

I am always behind on my RUCs and registration simply because i dont remember it and refuse to accept postal mail.

I would much rather they just take the money out of my account automagically.
