I don't know if this is still true, but Pam's used to do the best frozen corn kernels on the market.

have a look next time , it's not called icecream its called dairy dessert and it has only 3g of total fats compared to 5g in tiptop ice cream .to be called ice cream it has to have a minimum 10% milk fats.

I know Mel-o-rich is called frozen dessert, but I thought Pam's was still sold as icecream.

Regardless, it definitely is (or at least was) made in Tip Top's Mt. Wellington factory.

EDIT: That doesn't mean it's the same product

Pams is a dairy desert as well.

All the home brand ice cream for both chains is made by Fresha (who also own the Mel'o Rich and Much Moore brands). I'd be highly surprised if production was outsourced to Tip Top as they are their biggest competitor.

The best way to compare products is looking at the ingredients and NIP.

Some will be small companies, mostly they are big brand companies selling the exact same product as their own brand.

Yep, No Frills that we did where I worked years ago was the same. Weetbix however is bland

Me too, not just because of the tax issue but they also market inferior knock-offs of popular British products such as Marmite and Wheat-A-Bix, and tonight it has been revealed that they are effectively bribing schools to allow them to install vending machines selling their junk food breakfast.

My favourite part was where the Sanitarium spokeswoman mentioned that up and go wasn't aimed at being sold to children, hence it wasn't their fault it had as much sugar as a cup of coke, and so also not their fault children were consuming it... Eventually, we see they have a plan to get these vending machines in schools, with both kickbacks or per-product payments to the schools.

My next favourite part was where Sanitarium said that children shouldn't be consuming it every day. Then we see a montage of kids saying they have it up to 2x a day. But sure as heck, there's no signs on the vending machine saying this will make your teeth rot, give you diabetes and so forth like every other junk food packed with the sugars, so don't eat it every day.

Budget Wheat biscuits are also made by Sanitarium. The box Is exactly the same (but with different printing)

The ingredients list is the same, except vitamins added to the real thing

Sorry, I meant Pams are the same, not budget.

Budgets seem quite different.

Our local New World no longer stocks Pams milk.
A sign sates that this is "due to supplier deletion".
The only option is full-priced milk at $1.99 per liter.

Other NZ dairy products appear to be going up in price, particularly specialty cheeses - which cost more than their equivalent imports.

I feel ripped off, in "the land of the 7 cent pint" that I migrated to years ago.
