Have you seen his house(s), plane, cars...... those are not purchased with chump change. His net worth is estimated at $3.7 Billion. As a private citizen his financials are private and until he is sworn in he is still a private citizen. I am not sure if the USA has similar disclosure laws for elected Government members as we have here.

That's what Brexit showed everyone. If you have good products to sell then people will buy them no matter what.

Trade agreements are just a waste of time because a change of govt or a falling out could negate those and plummets the weaker countries into turmoil. Yes it can be great until the brown stuff hits the rotary blades.

"It's about us now" - It should be, and should have been, about us all the time. The only way to have a strong economy.

Ironically that is exactly his policy. Its all about America, we come first. I don't disagree with that at all.

And thats why I sad that all this might be a good thing. The world is stale, its not very mobile, so we deal with what we deal with. This push away from exports to the US will reinvigourate our need to re assess our global trade, and our partners, i.e. reducing reliance on the US and growing deals with other nations. Same applies to any nations who also export to the US

At the risk of sounding disrespectful, economies (and economics in general) aren't as simple as that.

Trade is a critical part of most countries (happy) survival, since the beginning of time.

Agree. While his idea to make America more independent, trade wise, which helps his employment, is a good thing, the fact remains it will reduce the place of the US in the trade world, and increase other nations. And cause some distancing as the US just aint as important as it was. And we will throw tariffs on them when . All not very helpful, both ways.

I am not saying you are claiming this, however, I feel it completely unreasonable to blame Trump entirely (or even most) for this. Most of these people were doing this beforehand (less overtly), and the people who do this, will use any excuse. I saw racist stuff like this when we drove past some areas in Hawaii last year, near schools.

I don't believe for one second, that Trump would find this acceptable, nor condone it.

His comments around Muslims have been to place a temporary stop to Muslims entering the country until administrators can get a handle on threats. Whilst I feel it's wrong to profile someone based on religion, I *CAN* understand the idea behind it.

I think there has been a lot more racial tension in the USA in the past 2 years than I can recall for a while, and Trump was not president then, a Black man was.

Yup. There has been a fair bit of criticism of people, pundits and media failure to recognise the signs that led him to win, but I think that's just crazy. Until the 2/3 mark on election day, I believe the mood at Trump HQ, was pretty much one of resignation that they would lose to Clinton, and surprise as much as jubilation when he got the 270th Electoral vote.

Unbelievable. Its those people who bring the reputation of the US down. The problem is that this is the peoples mentality. The kids chanting "build the wall" in schools and graffiti is disgusting. Is this something the teachers are saying to the kids? The parents? Do they learn this from the media? For the youth to use racial slurs and think its OK something has to change. Who will they grow up to be and the kids they may have.

This is the underlying reason why america is not great and will never be great if they continue to hold onto racist values and everything else we have covered in these topics.

I certainly don't blame him. Yesterday with the riots, if someone got hurt or died, then they will say blood on his hands, but its not. Its on these idiots hands. he won a fair election.

Its a pity that the country is in such a mess that its fine to shoot and violate. His election was for the most part, about the average Joe who is falling behind. Now, a minority takes us back decades with what they are posting as graffiti. IMHO, the country has always been divided, but more so than I perhaps envisioned. Having said that, this will clearly be the minority squeaky wheel of his voters.

I feel thats what we are doing. John Key is smart, he will act intelligently I feel.

The stock market has bounced back just like that, quite surprising it was that quick. I expect his gracious attitudes post win have helped. Realisation that he is the President

but really, it will be the team that runs the country. Pulling back info off his website. A general calming down. That country wont be run by the guy the way he run his campaign.

He needs to have another speech. His activist minority are acting like the 1960's racial tension, the Democrats went too far with all the protests across the country. He needs to calm it all down, and he's a marketing guru, he can sort this to a reasonable degree.
