I'll be going in the weekend to watch on the biggest NON 3D screening that is available.

I was luckily enough to partake in proceedings of the Australasian premiere of TFA. And yep, not impressed with the digital 3D work. life stuff not so bad, but the flicker and focus shift on wide shots. urg. Needed more avatar dust editing.

I'll be adding 'star wars' to my blocking in fbpurity tonight! Corporate showing next week. However Kevin Smith (who was a fan of TFA mind...) had rave comments about this bringing back the bad in DV. Which is hopeful.

Now to go remind everyone who is bound to get pissed off that it is NOT a continuation of the story, Darth is not 'back' - he never left. Hard to explain to people that this is not after the redeux (prequels) nor the originals, but in the middle of the original timeline.

Do people realise this movie coming out is numbered 3.5? Staged between Episode 3 and 4 and not a follow on from Episode 7.

A lot of people are thinking its going to be a follow on and expecting to see characters from Episode 7.

Mrs Disrespective and I are off to see it tomorrow evening courtesy of Resene and are looking forward to it.

I have a philosophy about any science fiction film I go to see which is that no matter what, assume nothing, and enjoy it as purely simple entertainment. Once I leave I tend to start picking it apart, but by then i've been able to enjoy it properly. That way things like Jar Jar don't ruin the film ;)

All that being said, I truly think Rogue 1 be a solid addition to the franchise. The original theory that George Lucas wrote three trilogy's may well be true, but it doesn't appear to be following that trajectory now.

Going to laugh at cosplayers doing Kylo and Rey. 404 - not found in this timeline

I would have thought most people in this thread would know what to expect...?

Well that was pretty fun!

JayADee: I only liked the first three.
The last one was just ok.
I'd like them to get back to the spirit of the first two.

The first three are still by far and away (or perhaps, Far, far away....!)  the best of the lot.

The middle three should be burned and never shown again.

The last one was passable but....

I'm wondering when the Ultimate Sin will be committed - remaking the first three....

Well that depends on how you define the 'middle' and 'first. Chronologically the 'first' are actually the 'middle. Ep IV V VI. With the 'middle' being prequels I II III. Assuming you look at it that way ;) Some Ep numbering for clarity required :D

The first three they ever made Ep IV V VI.
VI got a bit muppety. The prequels were awful. I didn't manage to watch any of them all the way through.

I really enjoyed it, especially the last 30 or so minutes.

Well done.

It was good both as a standalone movie and as a tie in to the Original Ep IV. Will watch again.

It's interesting that some of the media reviews of the movie show still shots of scenes that weren't actually shown in the movie. Much like some of the original trailer never ended up in the movie itself.

Great movie.
The ending was awesome, especially as we knew how it was going to end. Very well filmed.

May go and see it tomorrow evening if we can get tickets in Masterton. There's no posh cinemas over this side of the hill so no Dolby THX or whatever I don't think. We can do 3D movies sometimes here but they give me a headache so I no longer do that format.
