SepticSceptic:

Fresh bread with a slab of salted soft REAL butter.

Like your style, not a spread of butter but a SLAB. Just how I love it, especially on fresh home made bread.

Olive oil with a bit of pink himalayan salt is yum too.

My father prefers to slice his butter like cheese rather than spread it.

Some of you will remember this, bread and dripping , oh yeah good for the arteries that one surprised I am still above ground.

When I were a' school my mate's mum always kept a pot of fat from roasts on the stove. Pure, saturated solid white fat.

So we'd run home from school - about 3km, fire up the stove top and deep fry a few slices of bread each. Crunchy golden brown deep fried fat sponges. Heaven.

And we never got fat either. I think after that we'd run down the bush valley behind the road and throw stones and old ladies's roofs, or nick a chocolate bar from the dairy. God, we were little bastards.

I'm Dutch - one of my favorites is:

Peanut Butter, Sambal Oelek (has to be the Conimex brand) and Cheese.

For those that don't know Sambal Oelek is a hot chilli paste often used in cooking.

Pie Sandwich. Any savoury pie (whole, or slice of) between two slices of fresh bread.

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

As a child I was fond of butter and caster sugar sandwiches! Couldn't stomach that now.

My wife loves Walkers Cheese & Onion crisp sandwiches.

Since I won't eat vegetables, salad or fruit, my sandwiches tend to revolve around meat. My personal favourite is stoneground wholemeal bread with chicken breast and Best Foods mayo with fresh black pepper. Not very odd, I grant you.

Others would be (English) Marmite & Strong cheddar, hot smoked salmon and mayo and grated cheese mixed with mayo with good ham.

I have a couple of friends from the North of England who would agree with you there!! They love that. I like it with mince & cheese pie.

Tried that - isn't the same. I found it bland in comparison. Sambal Oelek has a more salty taste to it (along with Chilli).

A slice of vegemite toast, wrapped around a handful of bean sprouts. It has a kind of yeasty crunchiness thing going on. Yummy.
