There's no reason to remove the topic. But if you post anything on a public forum with a lot of smart people you have to be prepared to get the reactions and comments.

If you don't like criticism then don't start the discussion. Discussions are here exactly for this - for people to open their eyes, comments and perhaps bring a bit of light to others.

If your arguments are not good enough to convince people, well, that's it...

hmmm, the problem is from all the feedbacks and comments i dont see many smart people here!! everyone trying to make a comment but their comment really is not a comment or without a point or view.

i hear, it can not be done, chain letter, spam. or dont use petrol and walk.. i do not hear anything smart here. you tell me which of those feedback were smart so i agree with you.

its not like the topic said put bp out of business.. i know not me, you, NZ or half the world can do that.. its just putting presure on bp.

i am not going to explain the whole thing, but if your a bp owner and no customer, what do you do? you complain to higher level. higher level will then have to decrease the price and so on.....

and about conspiracy theory, that is what you might call it, but it is the truth. prove me wrong

lol AmooMan, who am i to say if your smart or what :) i am just answering Mauricio Freitas, saying

and so far i didnt get any of those,, as for you, at least you did input ideas and made points.. but lets be realstic here,,, is it possible not to buy petrol at all? i mean its not just cars running on petrol/oil... and lets say its only cars, but for how long can you handle not buying? how far can you go? you got emergency in the middle of night, you use public transport as some suggested here?

not buying wont work, out of question.

now alternative fuel sources.

as you said, #1 #2 #3 are not so good, but yes #4.. you know, early 1995 when i had my first PC, this is from memory and not too sure if i read it in email or website..this document was circulating on the net on how to build the #4, basically the blue print of it,, but still 13 years after that, nothing serious has been done about it from car companies. do you think big oil corps would let a car company build such a thing? i dont think so

a good example would be solar system, lights etc.. they have been around for as long as i remember.. why is it never been taken seriusly? could it be because big electicity companies would loose so much? i know for fact there are solar products around that a full house can be runned on a solar system without any complications or need from outside source or energy.

and the story goes on and on.. its all about $$$ mate, who makes the bigger $$.

good luck with the boycott idea.... diddn't work during the Standard Oil-Rockefeller monopoly, won't work now!!!

a better idea would be to leave OPEC, make petroleum using Bergius process and other coal refinement techniques instead of using coal for power generation which should be nuclear if we want to call ourselves a green country...

Quick poll,

1. Transport industry
2. Agricultural industry
3. Industrial industry
4. Consumers

which of the above do you think would have the biggest impact on the Oil industry if they were to decide they wanted to regulate the price of oil (or organise a group discount). Bet you didn't guess No. 4 :P

A friend's partner just bought a late '90s hybrid for $5800 (she had to shop around for a while tho)... alternatives would be bicycles, scooters, motorcycles (less car drivers means safer motorcyclists :)), public transport, carpools, teleworking, etc.

Don't scoff. You need to think about this... what if petrol hits $5.00/litre, I couldn't afford $250 to fill up my car... could you?

That graphic a page or so back highlighted what I think is the bigger issue.

It doesn't matter which petrol company you're buying from, and yes they are making a fairly big profit, but so is our bloody government. I mean everyone complains about BP, Shell etc putting up prices, but you don't hear any complaints from the government cos they take a big slice off the top in levies AND in GST.

Lets not boycot Biddle Petroleum, but boycott the Biddle Land Transport Authority

Where I'm coming from, I train to work everyday (and have done for over 10 years) - the last 6 I've walked to the station everyday until last week when they shut down my station and I have to take the bus, so really I couldn't care if you use gas, apart from the fact you're filling up my train!!

People complian about BP because as soon as there's a hint of the price of oil going up on the market they hike to local price by 4 cent that same day. I see that oil went down about $4~5 a barrel overnite so I guess BP will be first to put the price back down 4 cents. Que Tui ad.
