I wasn’t making it up, the conversations were a bit longer but you get the gist.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Why hasn't anyone replied to Mary or Sarah to find out what the scam is / where it goes? Perhaps, someone who used a burner address in the first place could pursue the spam to find out what the actual scam is?

Got the same thing from Mary at the suburb of my local Dominos. The abbreviated form of my wife’s name is Mary so at first I thought it was from her.

Even though I place the order online, I pay in store so fortunately haven’t had money disappear.

Has anyone complained to the Privacy Commission about this? They won't do anything without a formal complaint. Seeing there were fraudulent credit card transactions I thought someone would do more than complain in the forum?

With regard to the Visa Debit leaked details, I don't have any proof it was Domino's - it's just speculation on my part because of their leaking my email address and the fact that I mostly only use my card on their website. I'd like to work with Visa to narrow it down (provided they don't point the finger at some other embarrassingly dodgy online transaction that I've conveniently forgotten) but they don't seem to want to talk to me & I'm just hoping to get my $300 back before I run out of groceries money.

I'll do it if they send to me again...but might not happen as my spam filtering is rather aggressive now...surprised legit emails are getting through ;)

I'll check my archives for any of the deleted ones anyway.

I very much doubt they got credit card details.

It could actually be a trivial mistake that got these details leaked (certainly not excusing them though!). As the owner of a contract web development shop one of the things I have to do is make sure that nobody ever has an "unsanitised" (ie with customer details not munged) version of a production database on their development machine. Common-sense but surprisingly not necessarily that common...

If Domino's web contractors overlooked that at any point, anyone could grab a copy of the db while the employee was fetching another cappuccino However, afaik it's illegal to even store customer's credit card details in your own web app's db. We certainly never do. So I think compromised card details are very unlikely in this scenario.
