Gee that was fun. Just had another 'your computer has a problem' call. I managed to string her along for about 15 minutes with the dumb act before she finally gave up. I kept feeding her confusing information about my keyboard and screen layouts. I don't think she ever did realise I was scamming her, she just finally put me in the too hard basket.

Visiting my elderly parents the other day, just pottering around outside when suddenly an ear-piercing siren rings out. Fearing something terrible I dash inside to the source of the noise only to discover that this is what they do down the phone line when the scammers call! Scared the life out of me for a moment but had to laugh afterward.

One of my workmates has an old style cassette tape recorder by the phone, with a tape in in containing the sound track from an, errr, "somewhat explicit film for grownups only". He places the receiver next to it whenever he gets a scam call and presses play.

Which isn't a bad way to deal with them.
