I wear this style for comfort (very comfortable)

Bendon Man Cotton Stretch Twin Pack Men's Trunk | Bendon Man (bendonlingerie.co.nz)

This style for looks (reasonably comfortable)

Bendon Bold Stripe Men's Trunk | Bendon Lingerie

Both styles wear reasonably well.

These for active wear (tramping/running/gym/MTB)

Built to Move Long Boxer 7" | Underwear | Lululemon NZ

These lululemon boxers are amazing.  I've done 30km on a stinking hot day with no discomfort at all.

I've found that the Bendon branded trunks aren't lasting as long as the old HK Men ones. The elastic gives out after a couple of months.

I like the M&S Autograph branded ones, but they don't usually deliver to NZ so I picked up mine in the UK and Singapore.

Currently liking the Mazoni branded ones from Farmers. Especially when they've got a 40% of weekend.

That's interesting what you say about the Bendon ones, are they the same as the ones I posted above? I haven't had any issues, do you use hot/warm water wash? We have a front loader and wash in cold water, I think that does have an impact on how long clothes last too perhaps.

I'll take a look at Mazoni. I only buy Bendon when they are on clearance, $40 on underwear is not my cup of tea.

Ii seems all mens underwear are advertised with super-buff chaps, and as such, should come with a warning : actual results may vary.

Same here. Always went for the 4 for $50 deals, but quality isn't as good at present.

Can recommend the Nike Dri-Fit. Took a few on a Tongariro Crossing trip recently and they held up really well. These are the gear I reserve for hiking etc and they're great.

I also have some Nike cotton shorts which are fine for every day use.

Also have Under Armour Tech Boxerjock which is also fine for every day use -- could probably use them for hiking etc as well but I feel the material in the Nike Dri-Fit is better.

Also have one Bonds pair (bought when I got a voucher for Farmers) which has been quite good so might buy some more of these in the past if on special there.

I've tried cheaper brands (e.g. off-band ones from cheap stores selling 5 for $25) and they usually end up to be not quite good enough. E.g. elastic band giving out quickly, not absorbing sweat and/or drying out quickly, etc. Wouldn't want to be hiking in these (probably would end up soaking wet from my sweating!) but seemed to be just OK for everyday use until the elastic band wears out.

I've ended up following the strategy of buying around four pairs with higher end material suitable for active use so I have enough for a long weekend hiking trip (e.g. I currently use the Nike Dri-Fit series but have used AussieBums in the past) and then adding couple of cheaper cotton ones from quality brands (e.g. Nike cotton) to ensure I have enough overall for everyday use. A bit pricey but I try to buy when they're on special at Rebel Sports etc so not too bad really.
