Geektastic: Doesn’t this belong in Politics?
So you think inequality is party aligned? No, its not a political problem, its an equality problem.
On the topic of discrimination & the race relations commissioner, I personally find the below far more offensive:

mrdrifter: Mike, how about you try reading your previous posts without your current blinkered mindset. Your previous posts can be read as being exactly opposite to what you just said about actually discussing racism and reading them as written, they effectively say we can't help those people, we should just cast them out as they can't be rehabilitated.
You talk and act like this in many threads that raise multiple points of view and it makes the forum a worse place to be as a proper discussion can't be had when someone it just saying - 'Nope Nope Nope Nope, I'm right you're all wrong'
While I can't advise Mike's reasoning, to me it seems quite clear. You either have zero tolerance for discrimination or you don't. If you have a level of tolerance you are supporting it. The number of times this happens, that always gets the same weak response, is just normalising this behaviour.
Surely an opinion that is zero tolerance is allowed here? By saying its blinkered means that you are doing the same thing, you are right he is wrong. A zero tolerance to discrimination is hardly a radical position. If it was a typical position, this thread would not exist. But it does.
There is always a place for nuance and discussion. It's possible for people to have views that are different while not actually condoning behaviour like Wheelers.
You think that golliwogs are harmless children's toys. I, and many others, think they are fairly awful racist symbols of slavery and Jim Crow.
I don't think you are a racist but you have a view I very strongly disagree with. Discussing that can only be beneficial.
I just thought, seriously, what planet has this guy been living on that his brain even engaged the way it did. There can be no shortage of talented people lining up to have his job, move him on.

I agree with you there. Racism is horrible BUT simply declaring it as so , as Mike does, doesn't provide the 'why' which some people need to have their mind opened , or changed.
Most of the posters in this thread are just like chimpanzees on MDMA, full of feelings of bonhomie, joy, and optimism. Fred99 8/4/21
People who indulge in casual racism don't always understand what it really is, and can benefit from having it pointed out and explained. People do learn from their mistakes.

Have you ever done or said something really dumb at work? I have.

Dumb, yes, most days. Racist, no.
Plus, my work conversations are not broadcast to tens of thousands, many of them kids.
It’s his job to know better, he didn’t.

Let's expand this because this just doesn't JUST apply to racism. Homophobia, transphobia, misogynistic behavior, casually or not is STILL just that and it's something I've seen in the 15 years I've been living in this country. Sure some people can learn from it and that's absolutely something I support and even have to do sometimes but it's so engrained in society and conversations that it's going to take decades to clamp down on it and as a society move on and not let this be apart of casual conversations.
I've been wondering a while to see if I should participate in this thread or not but your reply is absolutely golden and again it's not just racism, there's a lot of other god awful stuff that's said.
