Scotdownunder:

I thought the original for this was the UK show with Alan Sugar as the front man.  Originally the winner got to work for his company but after some bad publicity that changed to investing in a startup company the winner was selected / promoted.

The show will belong to the original production company, licensed out to whoever wants to make a new series, so I doubt Trump gets anything as host of a licensed production.

The Apprentice originated in the US and first aired in 2005. It was produced by Trump Productions with Donald as host. The UK series followed soon after.

Assuming Donald had some proprietary interest in the whole thing - because one of his companies originally produced it - he may well get something out of a licensed production.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
