Went there this morning about 15 minutes after opening and there was still parking available out the back.

It looks a little like an apple store. Wouldn’t look out of place as an airport duty free store. The shop floor was very well stocked. They’ve split the floor space or the building in half shared between the shop and their storage or warehouse area behind the counter. They only had a half dozen or so Windows 10 Pro laptops on display. Lots of gaming monitors on cash-special prices. Seemed to have lots of staff who sounded enthusiastic.

I had a feeling the start was nigh, as when I walked past the shop about 0630 this morning the coverings had been removed from the windows.

Great to see it’s open now - are there any (decent) opening specials?

I remember trying to buy a 5m CAT cable in Palmy once while I was there for work...

HN had none on the shelf (they could order one in from another city as neither branch had any).

The local PC repair store wanted SEVENTY DOLLARS for a 5m CAT cable #NOTEVENKIDDING.

JayCar was the only option...

Now PB Tech will certainly make other retailers up their game - or disappear.

This is just a soft opening. Looks like they will have a grand opening sale coming up in the next 2 weeks if my little birdie I spoke to is correct...Which will be good as I need a new monitor.

It’s sad that it’s not a full fledged store…

It’s a new concept store exploring to focus more on ‘Click & Collect’…that’s what the staffs there say when I was there 2 weekends back…

Indeed. They didn't even have any UniFi AP's on the shop floor, and couldn't find a mouse pad they had in stock (I'll chalk that up to still unpacking on day 3).

Still, I'm grateful they're in town, since I had to pick up a microSD card at urgent notice, and click and collect is better than nothing.

My wife has sighted the new Petone store, its where NZ Safety Blackwoods was at 69 The Esplanade, Petone. Looks like its now open going by PB Tech's website? Been nothing I've seen on their social media.
