YES YES YES!!! THAT'S IT!!!

You have just solved a 35 year mystery!! Thank you so much!! 😃

Also that explains why I couldn't find it - it didn't chart here at all. Looks like it was released in 1983, so 1984 would be about the time I saw it on TV.

Thank you again! 😃

Edit; I'm surprised NZ On Screen would know about it - the guy was a French composer! :)

Probably one of those 'office discussions' and maybe they have staff of a certain age - much like the people here who tried to think what it was.

Good outcome!

@Wakrak Excellent piece of work. 👍

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Along the same lines as the music video in this thread - I'm watching this at the moment: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085809/reference/

I'd never heard of it before tonight; has anyone else seen it or heard of it? I'm finding it weird but also intriguing. Jesus Los Angeles used to have a lot of smog in the early 80s!

Wakrak:

I emailed nzonscreen with the details you mentioned OP and this was their response:

"Kia ora,

Thanks for your email! After some talks in the office we think it may be this... let me know if this rings any bells!"

That was very kind of you to go to that effort @Wakrak nicely done.
