Niner? For 'N'? If so, you're doing it wrong and it's no wonder people struggle to understand! ;-)

Niner is the right way to pronounce 9.

Roger Roger and don't call me Shirley.

Fully aware of that, Shirley!

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

If I'm dealing with scammers, I use this:

There's also an X-rated phonetic alphabet that you can use when talking to people you don't want to talk to any more. It starts with... OK, can't say that here, then... nope, not that, and uhh, no, not that one either.

Well you'll have to use your imagination. And there are a few curveballs, e.g. Y = "coffin".

I use NATO as this was standard use with my previous employer, they also required Fife (five) and niner (nine) to be used as well.

The only exception was if you were speaking to someone who did not understand a lot of English so you'd try to use more common words, especially foods. However this could still confuse things, as you'd struggle to get them to understand why you're trying to communicate phonetically in the first place

Totally, you have to use these to show how geeky you are and communicate effectively but personally I draw the line at adding things like 'over' or 'affirmative' unless it's a special occasion.

I have to daily repeat ID numbers which are letters and number (three letters four numbers) and I try to vary things. Ie animals, nato, names etc. An attempt to keep dementia at bay
