Just  had my  tablet  do the "mandatory update"  Complete junk.  They went from a perfectly good  user interface to something that is useless.  Worse is you can't shut it down without using the Close All setting on my Android tablet.

Won't be using it again.

Edit.  It now looks like the online version.  Hopeless.

Regards,

caffynz:

I noticed on new website that article pages had the photos slightly blurry/pixelated.
Once I created and logged into my account, the photos now load at full quality. Coincidence?

This is specifically not a coincidence, it's part of the stuff business strategy, they want people to sign up (for free, for now) so that they have registration details for everyone. They will use this information to build profiles on those people to understand their engagement, consumption and browsing. This then helps them to offer future 'premium' services and being able to audience target both news and ad content.

Not much good if you can't load the page for one thing, or the content you want (ie, the Technology section) isn't even there, though.

I have to ask did anyone there actually think to test this on any other browser apart from Chrome? It still loads in a ridiculous loop on Firefox.

Less bells and whistles and more functionality is all I ask.

Works fine for me in MS Edge (121.0.2277.49)

I don't like the little pulsing icon by the date. But as for the rest of the site, its just a site. Presents information much like any other news site.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is the site was okay as it was. This just seems like change for the sake of change - make-busy work to keep someone in a job, ie, a website redesign that no one asked for.

Ge0rge: Opera on mobile - the page loads and then flicks across to the purple page with the animation. And stays there.

If I scroll, the purple moves up about 10mm, and I can see the page underneath with everything loaded scrolling. After the scroll stops, the purple jumps back down and covers everything.

What a disaster.

Same for me.  Even flicking over to desktop layout can't get past the purple loading S

That big white block above the navigation bar is pretty annoying though

And how are we meant to give them the feedback they're seeking if they remove all feedback channels? They don't post on Facebook and all their Youtube videos (that I saw) have comments disabled.

Seems like they want to live inside a bubble thinking everything they do is perfect 🙄

I believe that is perhaps us using an ad blocker.

I just get an animated S logo. No content appears. Probably for the best since the content is dire.

So much for the app on my phone:

Reinstalled, and it crashes on startup.  Uninstalled now.

TBH, I probably won't miss it.

(edit: notified via stuffproduct@stuff.co.nz, as listed on the Google Play website; will update on the unlikely event I actually hear something back)

There's something amusing about an error that says nothing more than "Stuff keeps stopping"!
